RHAM falls to mighty Falcons

Sep. 19—HEBRON — Ally Hadley ( 21 kills) and Lani Fecho ( 15 kills) led the RHAM High volleyball team, which dropped the decisive fifth game by a 15-4 margin in a non-conference loss Saturday to Fairfield Ludlowe, last year's CIAC Class LL runner- up. The Raptors (3-1) won the opening game ( 25- 13) before the Falcons ( 1- 2) took the next two (26-24 and 15-17). RHAM won Game 4 (25-17).

GIRLS SOCCER

Asia Jones made 29 saves for Windham in a 6- 0 Eastern Connecticut Conference inter- division loss to Plainfield in Willimantic.

Katherine Guttierrez and sweeper Alyssa Lebiszczak had strong efforts on the back line in front of Jones as the Whips ( 1- 2) trailed 1- 0 at halftime.

Sophia Rodriguez and Rachel Popiel each scored two goals for the Panthers (2-1-1).

BOYS SOCCER

Kai Blatchford scored for Parish Hill in a 2- 1 non- conference loss to Wheeler in North Stonington.

Nick LaBelle assisted on the goal for the Pirates (0-2-1). BOYS CROSS COUNTRY Troy Miller finished eighth overall over 3.1 miles ( 17: 08) and Ryan Heneghan was 20th ( 17: 47) as RHAM finished fourth (109 points) at the CT River Valley Invitational at Cromwell High School.

Ouellete ( 6- for- 11, 65 yards) also threw for a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter for the Panthers (1-1).

Samuel DeJesus (5 receptions, 52 yards) caught a 29-yard TD pass for a 12-6 lead and Noah Cordone had a 13-yard TD pass to increase the lead to 18-6.

Tyler Holcomb (13 carries, 123 yards) opened the scoring with a 7-yard TD run.

BOYS SOCCER

Stanley Strycharz started his junior season on the pitch with a hat trick and Coventry scored all five of its goals over a 9-minute span of the first half to open its season with a 5-0 North Central Connecticut Conference victory over SMSA in Hartford.

Strycharz scored his goals in the 22nd, 24th and 26th minutes for the Patriots, who held a 25-0 advantage in shots.

Owen Dieterle added a pair of assists with Jacob Wojtkowiak, Malachy Blood and Noah Poulin also having assists.

Aidan Hecht opened the scoring in the 19th minute and Boden Almedia wrapped things up in the 28th minute.

E.O. Smith (0-3) dropped a 3-0 CCC inter-division decision at Plainville (3-0). Kenyon Morissette scored in the first half with an assist from Nicholas Chalifoux as Lyman Memorial ( 2- 1- 1 overall, 0-0-1 league) played to a 1-all tie at Killingly (2-1-1, 0-1-1) in an ECC Division III game.

Truman Brodeur broke a 1-1 deadlock off a free kick with 15: 24 remaining in the second half as RHAM edged Lewis Mills, 2-1, in a CCC inter-division game in Hebron.

Cooper Halotek gave the Raptors (2-0-1) a 1-0 lead 1:43 before halftime.

Ian Nalowski tied it for the Spartans (1-2) 1:20 into the second half.

CROSS COUNTRY

Lyman Memorial freshman Hazel DeLucia finished first overall (20:49) at the inaugural Wheeler Invitational in North Stonington.

VOLLEYBALL

Rosie Manville had four kills and four aces as Windham Tech (0-4 overall, 0-1 league) fell in five games at Norwich Tech in a Connecticut Technical Conference East Division match.

The Lady Tigers won the opening game (25-23) and dropped the next two (2515, 25- 22) before taking Game 4 (25-17) to force a decisive fifth game.

Norwich Tech took the final game, 15-9.

Kassidy LaTour had 14 kills, 10 assists, three digs and an ace and Erica Arpin finished with 13 digs, two kills and an ace to help lift Lyman Memorial (4-1) to a 25-19, 25-13, 25-16 ECC inter-division victory at Montville.

Sierra Urban ( 3 aces, 10 assists), Bella Mallory (5 aces, 10 kills), Cassie DeRocher (9 aces, 7 digs) and Sierra York (9 aces, 9 digs) paced E.O. Smith (2-2 overall, 2-0 league) in a 25-7, 25-8, 25-16 CCC East Division victory over Enfield in Storrs.
