Rhian Brewster transfer: Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish denies making £25m bid for Liverpool striker

Crystal Palace have rejected reports claiming the south London club have made sizeable bid for Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster.

Palace are thought to be leading the race for the 20-year-old striker’s signature, who is wanted by fellow Premier League clubs Aston Villa, Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion after impressing on loan at Swansea City in the Championship last season.

Reports surfaced on Monday morning linking the club with a formal offer of £19m plus £6m in add-ons and featuring a buy-back clause of £37m should Liverpool want to re-sign the player in the future but the Palace chairman Steve Parish tweeted an emphatic denial.

Referring to Sky Sports’ news story, Parish said: “We have asked Sky to take this down as it is a total fabrication from start to finish. We have not made a bid formal or informal.”

At thr time of writing, Sky’s story had not been removed.

Brewster is thought to be available as he seeks first-team football. The recent arrival of Diogo Jota from Wolves has increased competition for places at Liverpool, and with chances set to be limited Brewster is reportedly keen on a chance to play elsewhere.
