Rhode Island man wins $1M on ‘Billion Dollar Extravaganza’ scratch ticket, plans on buying house

A Rhode Island man has won $1M on the ‘Billion Dollar Extravaganza’ scratch ticket.

Jeffrey Berube of Tiverton, RI is the sixth $1 million prize winner in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “Billion Dollar Extravaganza” instant ticket game.

Berube claimed his prized alongside his sister at lottery headquarters, opted to receive his prize in the form of a one-time payment of $650,000 (before taxes).

He plans to use his winnings to buy a house.

Berube purchased his winning ticket at Harry’s Country Store, 646 American Legion Highway in Westport. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for the sale of the ticket.

The “Billion Dollar Extravaganza” scratch ticket released by the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission in February offers over $1 billion in total winnings and features the largest instant win prize in Mass Lottery history - $25 million. In total, there are three $25 million prizes, five $2 million prizes, and 15 $1 million prizes.

The odds of winning a prize in the game are 1 in 4.10.
