BASEBALL

Division I

Cranston East 5, Mt. Hope 4

Angell Garcia went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI and John Devine pitched 6 innings and allowed three runs enabling Cranston East to slip past Mt. Hope. Damon Asencio also was a factor in the win as he went 1-for-2, scored a run and stole 2 bases.

North Kingstown 2, Cumberland 0

Ben Napoli tossed a two-hitter over five innings and Blake Beattie finished the shutout with two scoreless innings of relief as the Skippers held off the Clippers. NK's runs came when Andrew Ciarnello singled, then scored on a Robinson Lamond triple.  Lamond then scored on a Beattie single. Mike Bradshaw went all seven innings for Cumberland, yielding seven hits and just two earned runs in the loss.

Coventry 10, Toll Gate 0 (6 inn.)

Luke Lapham and Tyler Reall combined to throw a shutout and teammates Logan Lama belted a home and Tommy Turner and Caedan Joyce had 2 hits and 2 RBI apiece helping Coventry pick up its third win of the season.

Division II

Barrington 3, Westerly 1

Ben Nowinski struck out a season-high nine batters as Barrington edged Westerly, the defending Division II champions. Nowinski 100 pitches, 63 for strikes. The Eagles broke a scoreless tie in the sixth with two runs scored on wild pitches and the third on a Luke Tanous single. Older brother Gabe Tanous was 2-for-3, including a double. Nonleague

Beaver Country Day 7, Wheeler 3

Wheeler's Jacob Salzillo drilled a pair of hits, including a two-run home run, but it wasn't enough as Beaver Country Day defeated the Warriors in a nonleague game. BCD's Aiden Yaphe struck out eight while tossing a complete game and also went 2-for-4 at the plate in the winning effort. Ethan Lydon had a two-run double for the victors. Wheeler is now 5-2 this season.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Division I

Lincoln School 13, South Kingstown 9

Sydney Boss and Julianna Casey fired in three goals apiece, Dauphine Michel had two goals and three assists, and Ella Brown had two goals and two assists, lifting the Lynx to victory. Zoe Lockwood led the Rebels' attack with 3 goals and Payton Driscoll had 2 scores.

Division II

Burrillville 8, Cumberland 6

Despite a yeoman effort by Cumberland goaltender Maddie Estes, who recorded 21 saves, Abigail Lambert and Samantha Murphy scored two goals each in Burrillville's victory. Gwen Ross and Sophia Casitiglia had 2 goals apiece for the Clippers.

SOFTBALL

Division I

Smithfield 6, North Kingstown 1

The Sentinels pounded out 11 hits, led by Lauren Boyd who went 4-4 including a triple and 2 RBIs, and Lily Riggin, who was 3-3 with an RBI to overwhelm the Skippers. Leah Saunders added 2 hits with a triple. Cayley McCurdy picked up the win pitching 5 innings, allowing 5 hits, 1 run and striking out 7. Gabby Peralta led the way for North Kingstown with 2 hits including a double and an RBI.

Cranston West 8, La Salle 3

Division III

Rogers 19, Classical 4

In a game in which two winless teams faced off against each other, Rogers exploded for 19 runs and their starting pitcher Maeve Higgins allowed only three hits while striking out 10 batters in its win over Classical. Higgins also helped her cause at the plate going 2-for-2 with 2 walks and 2 RBI. Also contributing to the win were Taylor Gray (3-for-4, 3 RBI), Jazelle Ramos (2-for-2, 2 walks, 3 RBI), Margaret Phelps (2-for-3, 2 RBI) and Lillian Reilly (2-for-4, 2 RBI).

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Division I

Barrington 3, East Providence 1 (25-18, 25-18, 21-25, 25-21). JV, EP, 2-0.

Division II

West Warwick 3, Pilgrim 2 (21-25, 25-19, 23-25, 27-25, 15-6)

Nate Vanasse turned in an outstanding performance with 19 kills, 16 blocks and 3 aces helping the West Warwick pick up its second win of the season. Chad Rondeau (26 assists, 9 aces, 5 blocks and 4 kills) and AJ Martinez (21 digs, 5 aces and 3 assists) also were factors in the Wizard's victory. Eli Kearns and Jack Eaton had 17 and 8 kills, respectively in the for the Patriots in the loss.

Cranston West 3, Lincoln 2 (23-25, 25-18, 27-25, 25-13, 15-12). JV, CW, 2-1.

First place vs. last place with first place finishing on top, but not without a fight from the cellar-dwellers. Leading the way for the Falcons were Lucian Spremullo (10 aces, 10 kills, 1 block); Christian Mak (16 kills 3 blocks) and Aidan Hay (39 assists 1 block 3 kills). The Lions won the first two sets but were unable to secure the win with a third set victory. Despite the loss, Will Denio (10 kills, 2 blocks, 14 digs), Austin Noel (32 assists, 2 kills, 1 block, 4 digs), Wayne McNamara (9 kills, 6 blocks, 16 digs) Jackson Colton (10 blocks, 6 assisted blocks, 8 kills) and Jacques Guerrier (44 digs, 2 aces) played well for Lincoln.

Division III

Mt. Hope 3, Portsmouth 1 (20-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-21) JV, 2-0 Mt. Hope

Isaiah Bourgeauly had 2 blocks, 2 kills, 4 tips, 5 assists and 2 digs to lead the Huskies in the Div. III victory over the Patriots.

Burrillville 3, Times2/St. Pat/PC 0 (25-7, 25-20, 25-17).

The play by Aidan Gath (7 kills, 4 aces, 2 blocks), Cayden Closson (10 aces, 3 kills, 2 assists) and Frank Bergin (7 kills, 7 digs 1 ace) was too much for the T2/SP/PC co-op to deal with as Burrillville cruised to victory.

Woonscocket 3, Mt. Pleasant 0. JV - MP, 2-1.

Devin Merrill had 10 kills, 7 aces, 8 assists and Alex Herrera had 7 kills and an ace helping Woonsocket blank Mount Pleasant. Dakota Yuong had 7 aces was, 19-of-19 from the service line with 3 aces and 6 assists for the Kilties in the loss.
