RI man charged with making false bomb threat at Florida airport. He's the second one this month.

A Westerly man is accused of making a bomb threat Sunday at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport that prompted deputy sheriffs to evacuate part of a terminal, according to the Broward County Sheriff's Office.

Tyler Baeder, 27, faces one count of false reporting concerning planting a bomb, explosive or weapon of mass destruction and one count of resisting an officer without violence, the sheriff's office said.

An airport employee told deputies that Baeder allegedly said, "Call the cops, I have a bomb in my bag."

Baeder is alleged to have made the statement at about 5:26 p.m. Sunday after having trouble using a kiosk to check in for his flight, the Sheriff's Department said.

Deputies immediately took Baeder into custody and evacuated the upper level of Terminal 1, the sheriff's office said.

Investigators searched Baeder's belongings and the threat was deemed unfounded, the sheriff's office said.

As of Monday, Braeder was being held at the Broward County Sheriff's Office.

Not the first RI man arrested for airport bomb threat this month

Earlier this month, another Rhode Island man was arrested and charged with making a false bomb threat on a flight from Orlando to Providence. The incident prompted the pilot to divert the plane to Jacksonville.
