Rib Run & Roll set for Saturday

Sep. 30—Rockwall will be a great place this weekend for anyone looking for barbecue or pretty much any kind of food, a car show, competitive and recreational running or live musical entertainment.

The Rockwall Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the 14th annual Rib Run & Roll event.

Activities begin with the run(s) at Harry Myers Park. The 1 mile Fun Run starts at 8:30 a.m., the 10k at 8:45 a.m. and the 5k at 8:55 a.m., with the awards to be presented at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The BBQ competition, sanctioned by Outlaw BBQ, will also be held at the park, with the awards at 5 p.m.

The Car Show is scheduled downtown starting at 9 a.m., with the awards will taking place at 2 p.m. A DJ will be providing the music and there will be a pine wood derby taking place on the downtown stage. There will food available from Casita Food Truck and Joe's Backyard BBQ. Meanwhile, live music will be starting back at Harry Myers Park, with Local Yoakum at 10 a.m., the Redwine Band at 12:30 p.m. and the Jack Tasty Band hitting the stage at 3 p.m.

The park will also offer a play area for kids and yard games for all ages, and multiple food vendors including La Rosita Food Truck, 4M Concessions, Auntie Anne's Pretzel Trailer and Smoak Town BBQ.

Trolleys will be running from downtown to Harry Myers Park between 9 a.m.and 5 p.m. Saturday.
