The Hesperia Recreation and Park District will host a ribbing cutting ceremony to celebrate the installation of a new playground at Lime Street Park.

The event is scheduled at 5 p.m. on Thursday at the park at 16292 Lime Street in Hesperia.

District officials said the replacement of the old playground includes new features such as the inclusive merry-go-round, an adaptive swing and ADA access to the large play structure.

Also, a new Centipede Climber, pirate ship and castle-themed components, a telescope and a twisty slide.

“Our children deserve these spaces, as does the entire community since playgrounds only help to make brighter futures for all who enjoy them,” said District GM Nicolas Chavez.

District staff members are exploring additional playground renovations and improvements at other park sites, which is budgeted in the upcoming fiscal year, Chavez said.

Through play, we learn to interact with others and develop lifelong skills. Playgrounds help children develop motor, cognitive, emotional, social, and communication skills naturally, district officials said.
