Outgoing Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald announced Monday that he is endorsing Michael Lamb to succeed him.

“While I am leaving office in a few months, I’m not leaving Allegheny County, this is my home, this is the home of my family, and this is where I want to continue to live. As a father and grandfather, I want the future to be bright for generations to come,” said County Executive Fitzgerald in a press release. “And as I have viewed this campaign there is only one candidate with the qualifications, track record, honesty, and integrity to lead this county for the next four years and that is Michael Lamb. Michael knows how to make government work and to attract the best people to get the job done.”

“I can’t say enough about this show of support and how important it is,” said Michael Lamb in a press release. “Rich has been County Executive for the last twelve years, and there are a lot of things you cannot question, you cannot question his work ethic, you cannot question his commitment to making this region better and you cannot question the commitment he has had to bring a higher standard of ethics and integrity to County government and that’s something I want to continue.”

Lamb currently serves as the controller of the City of Pittsburgh and former prothonotary of Allegheny County.
