Richard Nixon: Voters should ‘put their country above their party and vote for General Eisenhower’

Richard Nixon appeared on “Meet the Press” seven times. His first appearance on the broadcast was on September 14, 1952 as a senator and General Eisenhower’s vice presidential running mate. During that appearance, he asked voters to “put their country above their party and vote for General Eisenhower.” He was elected vice president nearly two months later and elected president in 1968.
