Richard Price Geer inducted into Ranger Hall of Fame

Jul. 18—FT. BENNING, Ga. — Siblings Kathy Geer Root and Brett Geer were part of the ceremony where their uncle, Richard Price Geer, was inducted July 13 with the Army Ranger Hall of Fame, Ft. Benning, Georgia, Class of 2022.

Kathy, a Norwalk resident, and Brett, a resident of Tampa, Fla., were there to witness a piece of history as their father, Robert James Geer, is already in the hall.

The Geers, who fought together at Chipyong-Ni, Korea, with 1st Airborne Ranger Company, 2nd Infantry Division. They are the only two brothers to become members of the Ranger Hall of Fame. Richard, 20, NHS Class of 1949, was killed in the 1951 battle. Robert, a Purple Heart recipient and member of NHS Class of 1947, died in 2008 and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.

Both Kathy and Brett are also Norwalk High School alumni.
