Richard Sherman says Washington would be ‘cool opportunity’ for Aaron Rodgers

Veteran cornerback Richard Sherman has quite the future ahead of him as an NFL analyst once his outstanding playing career is finished.

In an appearance on ESPN’s “First Take” on Wednesday, Sherman discussed several topics from around the NFL, including the Aaron Rodgers’ situation. Rodgers, of course, asked Green Bay for a trade last month.

As Sherman discussed Rodgers and his history with the Packers, he also talked about which teams could be attractive to Rodgers if he were ever allowed to seek a trade.

One of those teams was the Washington Football Team.

“I think Washington would be a cool opportunity,” Sherman said. “They have a D-Line, a defense in place and some playmakers on the outside that he could do something with.”

While Washington fans shouldn’t get too excited about the possibility of acquiring Rodgers, if he did become available, the WFT should do everything possible to acquire him. Players like Rodgers, at the most important position in sports, don’t come free while still playing at an MVP level.

Sherman did say he didn’t believe Green Bay would trade Rodgers, especially due to the timing.

As great as it is for Washington fans to dream about Rodgers, it’s just not likely. However, it was interesting that Washington was the first team mentioned as a good fit for the reigning MVP.

The Washington Football Team made a strong offer for Matthew Stafford before he was traded to the Los Angeles Rams. So, you can believe Washington coach Ron Rivera would be on the phone with Green Bay if there was any chance Rodgers was available.
