Richards Avenue near Santa Fe Community College set to reopen Friday

Oct. 18—Richards Avenue, partly closed for the construction of a roundabout north of Santa Fe Community College, will reopen earlier than expected.

The new roundabout at Richards Avenue and Dinosaur Trail will open at 3 p.m. Friday.

Construction on the west connection to Dinosaur Trail and on the east connection to Rabbit Road is not yet complete, Santa Fe County said in a news release Wednesday.

The roundabout is the second of six slated for construction as part of the county's northeast and southeast connector roads project.

A contractor began working on the Dinosaur Trail roundabout Sept. 11 with a goal of reopening Richards Avenue within 60 days. The roundabout will open within 40 days, thanks to "an aggressive schedule and optimum weather," the news release said.
