Richland 200: Established athletes make up Nos. 51-60 as list hits 150-athlete mark

They are names you already know.

And they are also names you will be hearing for a long time.

This week's Richland 200 athletes, Nos. 51-60, have already made names for themselves in their young careers and most will be frequent flyers on the annual countdown of the best athletes in Richland County.

Let's check out who they are as the Richland 200 list hits the 150-athlete mark.

60: Ethan Remy, Lexington

Remy was the lone Richland County boys tennis player to qualify for the state tournament as an individual. He cruised to a sectional championship and finished as the district runner-up behind Jay Fortner of Bryan. Remy dropped his first match of the state tournament to Xenia Legacy Christian's Tucker Culpepper, who eventually finished in third place overall, bringing an end to his sophomore season. With two more years left in a Lexington uniform, Remy has plenty of time to pick up a state tournament win and might join forces with another Lex netter as a doubles team next year come tourney time.

59: Karl Etzel, Lexington

Etzel joined Tommy Secrist as a dominating doubles tennis team in 2022 as the duo took sectional runner-up honors to teammates Ryan Mecurio and Ross Drlik before Etzel and Secrist got their revenge by winning the district doubles bracket, beating Mecurio and Drlik 6-4, 6-4 in the championship match. At state, Etzel and Secrist lost their first match to John Corbett and Ethan Blatt of Cincinnati Seven Hills, the eventual third-place team. Etzel will be looking for a new doubles partner next year as Secrist graduated along with Mecurio and Drlik. Perhaps Remy?

58: Taylor Mullins, Ontario

Mullins earned second-team all-district and second-team All-Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference honors in soccer last season after recording 49 saves as the goalie for the MOAC champion Warriors. She had extremely high expectations coming into the softball season but an ACL injury kept her out for all of 2022. She was one of the best players in Richland County during her freshman year, earning first-team All-MOAC honors. She had all spring and summer to recover from ACL surgery so the expectations remain high for Mullins in 2022-23.

57: Annika Labaki, Clear Fork

Labaki scored seven goals and handed out an amazing 14 assists for the Colts during the 2021 soccer season to earn first-team all-district and first-team All-Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference honors. During basketball season, Labaki started for the Colts as they put up one of the best seasons in 40 years. She scored 7.2 points and added 3.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.6 steals a game as her hustle and competitiveness led the way. It is that attitude and determination that will lead her to a successful 2022-23 athletic season.

56: Olivia Schulz, Madison

Schulz hit .387 with 29 hits, 24 RBIs and 21 runs scored with three home runs, earninghonorable mention All-Northwest District and first-team All-Ohio Cardinal Conference honors during the 2022 softball season. She caught 128⅓ innings and threw out three base runners while allowing just five passed balls. A relentless worker, Schulz returns for her senior season determined to put together her best season yet.

55: Kylie Galownia, Lexington

As a sophomore, Galownia earned honorable mention All-Northwest District and first-team All-Ohio Cardinal Conference honors by helping Lady Lex win the Division II district softball championship and making a run to the regional finals. She batted .340 with 32 hits, 14 RBIs and 22 runs scored and was the No. 2 pitcher on the team, going 8-0 with a microscopic 1.29 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 59⅔ innings. Lady Lex loses a lot of seniors from their regional runner-up team, but with Galownia coming back they have a dominant pitcher and a great bat in the lineup to keep things rolling.

54: Elias Owens, Mansfield Senior

Owens finished his sophomore football season by earning second-team All-Northwest District and second-team All-Ohio Cardinal Conference honors for the Tygers. He played all over the field, recording 12 tackles with four going for losses and two sacks. He also picked off three passes when he dropped back into coverage. Owens will see his role grow during his junior year as he will likely be more active in the passing game as a tight end/receiver and will line up in multiple different positions on the defensive side of the ball. This kid is about to take off.

53: Sophie Durbin, Crestview

Durbin was one of the best softball players in Richland County in 2022 and was just a sophomore to boot. She batted .559 with 38 hits, 28 runs scored, 16 RBIs and four home runs, earning second-team All-Northwest District and first-team All-Firelands Conference honors. She set the tone for the Cougars all season with 28 stolen bases and played a great shortstop with a .899 fielding percentage. She was also an honorable mention all-district volleyball player so she is far from a one-sport athlete. With two more years of high school sports, Durbin will be a fixture in the Richland 200 for a long time.

52:  Joslynne Frazier, Ontario

Frazier took on a lot of responsibility for the 2022 Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference softball champion Warriors. She batted .453 with 29 hits, 27 RBIs, 21 runs scored and seven home runs, earning second-team All-Northwest District and first-team All-MOAC honors. She was the main pitcher for Ontario, tossing 47 innings with a 5-2 record and a 2.83 ERA. She struck out 34 batters. The Warriors return everyone in 2023 and. with Frazier leading the way, a repeat MOAC title is an expectation.

51: Audi Albert, Shelby

As a junior, Albert burst onto the basketball scene as she gave Shelby a Big 4 instead of a Big 3. She earned honorable mention All-Northwest District, second-team All-District 6 and second-team All-Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference honors after scoring 11.5 points and adding 3.9 rebounds and two steals a game for the regional runners-up. Albert is also a solid soccer player who scored two goals and added one assist last season. Her main role is on defense, where she earned honorable mention all-district and honorable mention All-MOAC accolades. She is another Another athlete who will be a fixture in the Richland 200 for years to come.
