Richland College experiences network outage

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — Richland Community College’s web servers went offline Monday afternoon and remain offline as of Tuesday morning.

The website went down Monday afternoon. On it, a message with its logo reads “Some of our systems are currently unavailable. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

A spokesperson for the college declined answering questions on the network interruption until Richland officials fully understood the impact of the outage.

“We are working around the clock to determine the scope and impact of the incident and resolve any disruption of certain systems and operations, which, out of an abundance of caution, have remained offline until we are confident that we can safely bring them back into service,” Sammie Bright, a spokesperson for Richland Community College said.

Students and faculty can still access their Canvas courses. Everyone in the Richland Community College system can also still use their email.
