Shelby 5, Perkins 3

The Shelby Whippets earned a nice tournament momentum win over Perkins on Friday in nonconference action, 5-3.

Alex Bruskotter and James Mahon led the way with two hits apiece while Nic Eyster, Elijah Schwemley, Kamdyn Wheeler and Maverick Noel had one hit apiece. Tanner Hartz had two RBIs while Bruskotter, Mahon and Quinton Albert had one RBI apiece.

Mahon earned the win working six innings and allowing three runs on five hits with six strikeouts. Karsen Homan earned the save working a perfect seventh inning with three strikeouts.

The Whippets improve to 15-7 on the season.

Mansfield Senior 8, Bucyrus 4

The Mansfield Senior Tygers earned an impressive 8-4 nonconference win over Bucyrus on Friday.

Grayson Sanders, MJ Bradley and Peyton Page had two hits apiece while Joshua Malone, Dominique Horn, Justin Bland and Quintin DeBolt had one hit apiece. Sanders and Malone had two RBIs apiece while Bradley, Page and Bland had one apiece.

Horn earned the win on the mound working five innings allowing four runs on eight hits with eight strikeouts.

The Tygers improve to 4-17.

St. Paul 10, Plymouth 2

The Plymouth Big Red took a tough 10-2 Firelands Conference loss to St. Paul on Friday night.

Jansen Potts led the way with two hits while Canaan Slone and Trace McVey had one hit apiece.

The Big Red are now 7-14.

Thursday, May 11

Ontario 10, Lucas 0 F/5

The Ontario Warriors picked up a nice 10-0 win over Lucas on Thursday in nonconference action.

Carter Weaver, Caden Boebel and Peyton Dzugan led the way with two hits apiece for the Warriors while Colten Ramion, Gage Weaver and Braxton Hall had one hit apiece. Ramion, Gage Weaver, Carter Weaver and Dzugan had one RBI apiece in the win.

Carter Weaver took the win on the mound with a dominating performance allowing just two hits in the 5-inning shutout. He struck out nine.

Brayden Spitler and Bobby Grover had one hit apiece for the Cubs.

Ontario improves to 10-12 while Lucas falls to 14-5 on the season.

Plymouth 15, Mount Gilead 8

The Plymouth Big Red picked up a solid nonconference win over Mount Gilead on Thursday, 15-8.

Jansen Potts led the way with four hits while Canaan Slone, Zach Hamman, Trace McVey and Shae Sparks had two hits apiece and Ashton Jackson and Garrett Bishop had one hit apiece. McVey and Potts had four RBIs apiece while Sparks and Jackson had two apiece and Jarrett Burrer had one.

The Big Red is now 7-13 on the season.

Crestview 9, Plymouth 6

The Crestview Cougars clinched at least a share of their first Firelands Conference championship since 2011 with a 9-6 victory over Plymouth on Wednesday evening.

Gavin Barker led the way for the Cougars with three hits while Matthew Volz, Jarek Ringler and Dylan Bruner had two hits apiece and Owen Barker, Tyson Ringler and Klint Patton had one hit apiece. Gavin Barker had four RBIs while Tyson Ringler had two and Jarek Ringler and Owen Barker had one apiece.

Mason Ringler earned the win on the mound with four strikeouts while Jarek Ringler picked up the save with two Ks.

Zach Hamman and Trace McVey led the Big Red with three hits apiece while Carson Tucker, Shae Sparks, Jarrett Burrer, Jansen Potts and Ashton Jackson had one hit apiece. Hamman and Sparks had two RBIs apiece while Tucker and Burrer had one apiece.

Crestview is now 16-4 while Plymouth falls to 6-13.

Clear Fork 9, Highland 2

The Clear Fork Colts ended the MOAC season on a high note by beating league champion Highland 9-2 on Wednesday night.

Kasey Swank, Ty Sellers and Mason Sansom had two hits apiece for the Colts while Jay Jackson, Luke Schlosser, Kaden Riddle and Garret Hotz had one hit apiece. Schlosser and Sellers had three hits apiece while Jackson had one.

Schlosser earned the win on the mound allowing two runs on three hits with eight strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings of work.

The Colts are now 18-4 on the season.

Lucas 3, Riverview 2

The Lucas Cubs picked up an impressive 3-2 win over Riverview on Wednesday in nonconference action.

Hunter Church, Corbin Toms, Connor Rice, Bobby Grover and Jack DiBurtolomeo had one hit apiece for the Cubs while Toms and Grover added the lone RBIs on the night.

Andrew Smollen picked up the win on the mound allowing two runs on four hits with 13 strikeouts in a complete-game victory.

The Cubs are now 14-4 on the season.

Mount Vernon 2, Lexington 1

The Lexington Minutemen took a tough 2-1 loss to Mount Vernon on Wednesday night in Ohio Cardinal Conference action.

Markale Martin and Landon Hamilton led the way for Lex with two hits apiece while Chance Basilone, Jaxon Brown, Braden Mumaw, Aedan Nicol and Zion Rhodes had one hit apiece. Martin had the lone RBI for Lex in the loss.

Colton Murfield pitched well enough to win allowing one unearned run on four hits with six strikeouts.

The Minutemen are now 8-16 on the season.

West Holmes 4, Mansfield Senior 1

The Mansfield Senior Tygers took a tough 4-1 Ohio Cardinal Conference loss to West Holmes on Wednesday night.

Joshua Malone had the only two hits for the Tygers.

Guy Trader pitched well enough to win allowing four unearned runs on six hits with one strikeouts in six innings of work.

The Tygers are now 3-17 on the year.

New Philadelphia 21, Madison 5 F/5

The Madison Rams took a tough 21-5 Ohio Cardinal Conference loss to New Philadelphia on Wednesday night.

Rian Lunsford had the only two hits for Madison. He had two RBIs while Ethan Glasgo and Liam Stone had one RBI apiece.

Madison is now 8-14 on the season.

Tuesday, May 9

Crestview 9, Plymouth 0

The Crestview Cougars inched closer to clinching a Firelands Conference championship with a 9-0 win over Plymouth on Tuesday night.

Shelby 9, Ontario 1

The Shelby Whippets earned an impressive 9-1 Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference win over Ontario on Tuesday night.

Elijah Schwemley led the way for Shelby with two hits while Nic Eyster, Tanner Hartz, Landon Kennard and Karsen Homan had one hit apiece. Schwemley, Alex Bruskotter, James Mahon, Kennard and Homan had one RBI apiece in the win.

Kennard picked up the win on the mound allowing one run on nine hits with six strikeouts in seven innings of work.

Carter Weaver and Carter Walters led Ontario with two hits apiece while Colten Ramion, Gage Weaver, Drew Yetter, Braxton Hall and Caden Boebel had one hit apiece. Hall had the lone RBI for the Warriors.

Shelby improves to 13-7 while Ontario falls to 9-11.

Mansfield Christian 3, Crestline 2 F/10

The Mansfield Christian Flames picked up an impressive Mid-Buckeye Conference win over Crestline on Tuesday winning 3-2 in 10 innings.

Isaac Hillman led the way with three hits while JR Reeder, Ethan Bishop, Adam McLaughlin, Caleb Gregory, Landon McRae and Cale Everroad had one hit apiece. Hillman and McLaughlin had one RBI apiece for the Flames.

Hillman worked the first seven inning on the mound allowing two runs, none earned, on one hit with 15 strikeouts. Reeder finished the game off allowing just two hits in three innings with four strikeouts.

The Flames are now 4-17.

Highland 11, Clear Fork 1 F/6

The Clear Fork Colts took a tough MOAC loss to Highland on Tuesday, 11-1, ending their bid for a share of the league championship.

Kasey Swank, Nate Lind and Garret Hotz had one hit apiece while Kaden Riddle had one RBI.

The Colts are now 17-4 on the season.

Mount Vernon 9, Lexington 0

The Lexington Minutemen took a tough OCC loss to Mount Vernon, 9-0, on Tuesday night.

Mike Togliatti and Braden Mumaw had two hits apiece while Markale Martin and Cooper Dreibelbis had one hit apiece.

The Minutemen are now 8-15 on the season.

New Philadelphia 10, Madison 0 F/5

The Madison Rams took a tough 10-0 loss to New Philadelphia in Ohio Cardinal Conference action on Tuesday.

Owen Morrow, Gavin Cates and David Yockey had one hit apiece for the Rams.

Madison is now 8-13 on the season.

West Holmes 15, Mansfield Senior 2 F/5

The Mansfield Senior Tygers took a tough OCC loss to West Holmes on Tuesday falling 15-2.

Guy Trader and MJ Bradley had two hits apiece for the Tygers while Joshua Malone and Dominique Horn had one hit apiece. Malone and Bradley had one RBI apiece in the loss.

The Tygers are now 3-16 on the year.

Monday, May 7

Clear Fork 4, Madison 3 F/9

The Clear Fork Colts earned a tough 4-3 win over Madison in nine innings during a nonconference matchup.

Nate Lind delivered the walk off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to help the Colts pick up the victory. He finished the way with three hits while Jay Jackson, Garret Hotz and Mason Sansom added two hits apiece and Ty Sellers had one. Hotz, Kasey Swank and Lind had one RBI apiece in the victory.

Luke Drockton worked the first six innings on the mound allowing three runs, just two earned, on four hits with three strikeouts. Hotz earned the win working the final three innings allowing no runs on two hits with two strikeouts.

Cameron Kuhn led Madison with two hits while Owen Morrow, Gavin Cates, Ethan Glasgo and David Yockey had one hit apiece. Cates and Kuhn had one RBI apiece in the loss.

Liam Stone started the game going six innings and allowing three runs, one earned, on seven hits with one strikeout.

The Colts are now 17-3 while Madison falls to 8-12.

Mansfield Senior 9, Mansfield Christian 2

The Mansfield Senior Tygers picked up a nice 9-2 victory over Mansfield Christian in nonconference play on Monday.

Guy Trader, Peyton Page and Dominique Horn had two hits apiece for the Tygers while Joshua Malone and Quinten DeBolt had one hit apiece. Trader, Jake Zimmer and Horn had two RBIs apiece while Malone had one in the win.

Justin Bland picked up the win on the mound allowing two runs on five hits with four strikeouts in seven innings of work.

Caleb Gregory led the Flames with two hits while Ethan Bishop, Brock Rentzel and JR Reeder had onw hit apiece. Cale Everroad and Gregory had one RBI apiece in the loss.

Mansfield Senior improves to 3-15 while Mansfield Christian falls to 4-16.

West Holmes 7, Lexington 6 F/9

The Lexington Minutemen took a tough Ohio Cardinal Conference loss to West Holmes on Monday night, 7-6, in nine innings.

Chance Basilone and Mike Togliatti had two hits apiece for the Minutemen while Braden Mumaw, Aedan Nicol, Markale Martin, Cooper Dreibelbis and Landon Hamilton had one hit apiece. Basilone collected two RBIs while Martin, Dreibelbis and Hamilton had one RBI apiece.

The Minutemen fall to 8-14 on the season.

Huron 4, Shelby 3

The Shelby Whippets took a tough 4-3 nonconference loss to Huron on Monday night.

Nic Eyster led the way with two hits while Elijah Schwemley, Kamdyn Wheeler and Landon Kennard had one hit apiece. Eyster and Wheeler had one RBI apiece.

The Whippets are now 12-7 on the year.

Saturday, May 6

Mansfield Christian 6, Oberlin 1

Mansfield Christian 8, Oberlin 4

The Mansfield Christian Flames picked up their third consecutive victory of the season by sweeping Oberlin in a nonconference doubleheader on Saturday.

In Game 1, the Flames won 6-1 behind two hits apiece from Ethan Bishop and Isaac Hillman. Adam McLaughlin, Cale Everroad, Caleb Gregory and JR Reeder had one hit apiece. Landan McRae had three RBIs while Brock Rentzel and Gregory had one RBI apiece in the win.

Bishop picked up the win on the mound allowing one run on two hits with 13 strikeouts.

In Game 2, the Flames won 8-4 as Everroad led the way with two hits while Hillman, McLaughlin, Gregory and McRae had one hit apiece. Hillman and McLaughlin had two RBIs apiece and Bishop, Gregory and McRae had one RBI apiece.

Gregory picked up the win on the mound allowing four runs, just two earned, on four hits with 10 strikeouts.

The Flames are now 4-15 on the season.

Lucas 12, Central Christian 2 F/5

St. Paul 10, Plymouth 9

The Plymouth Big Red took a tough Firelands Conference loss to St. Paul on Saturday falling 10-9.

Trace McVey led the way with two hits while Zach Hamman, Jarrett Burrer and Jansen Potts had one hit apiece. Hammann had two RBIs while Canaan Slone, Shae Sparks, McVey, Carson Tucker, Burrer and Potts had one RBI apiece in the loss.

The Big Red falls to 6-11 on the season.

Friday, May 5

Clear Fork 8, Lexington 3

The Clear Fork Colts picked up an impressive nonconference win over Lexington on Friday 8-3.

Dawson Staley led the way with two hits while Jay Jackson, Kaden Riddle, Chandler Ball, Kasey Swank, Garret Hotz and Nate Lind had one hit apiece. Staley collected three RBIs while Swank and Hots had two apiece and Riddle rounded out the day with one. Hotz hit a home run in the victory.

Chandler Ball earned the win on the mound allowing two runs, just one earned, on six hits with eight strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings of work.

Jaxon Brown and Braden Mumaw led Lexington with two hits apiece while Chance Basilone and Cooper Dreibelbis had one hit apiece. Mumaw and Aedan Nicol had one RBI apiece for Lex.

Clear Fork improves to 16-3 while Lexington falls to 8-13.

Ontario 3, Ashland 2 F/8

The Ontario Warriors earned an impressive 3-2 victory over Ashland in walk off fashion on Friday night in nonconference play.

Carter Weaver delivered the game winner with a single up the middle with two outs in the bottom of the eighth to win it for the Warriors. Carter and Gage Weaver as well as Braxton Hall and Jagger Iula had two hist apiece while Jayden Leach and Jake Chapman had one hit apiece. Gage Weaver, Carter Weaver and Chapman all had one RBI apiece in the win.

Carter Walters earned the win on the mound working the final two innings allowing on hit with two strikeouts. Leach started the game working six innings allowing two runs, just one earned, on seven hits with three strikeouts.

The Warriors improve to 8-10 on the season.

Shelby 9, Mansfield Senior 1

The Shelby Whippets brought home another victory on Friday beating Mansfield Senior 9-1 in nonconference action.

Kamdyn Wheeler led the way with three hist while Nic Eyster had two hits and Tanner Hartz, Elijah Schwemley and Landon Kennard had one hit apiece. Eyster, Hartz and Wheeler had two RBIs while Schwemley and Kennard had one apiece.

James Mahon earned the win on the mound for Shelby allowing one run on three hits with seven strikeouts in five innings of work.

Guy Trader, Grayson Sanders and Joshua Malone all had one hit apiece for the Tygers. Jake Zimmer had the lone RBI.

Shelby improves to 12-6 on the year while Mansfield Senior falls to 2-15.

Madison 3, Wooster 2

The Madison Rams picked up a huge upset victory over Wooster on Friday night, 3-2, in Ohio Cardinal Conference action.

Owen Morrow and Ethan Glasgo led the way with two hits apiece while Cameron Kuhn, Rian Lunsford and Liam Stone had one hit apiece. Stone had two RBIs including the game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh to give the Rams a walk-off win. Zach Glasgo also had an RBI.

Stone also earned the win on the mound working the final three innings allowing just one hit.

Madison is now 8-11 on the season.

Lucas 9, Monroeville 1

Mapleton 5, Plymouth 4

The Plymouth Big Red took a tough 5-4 loss to Mapleton on Friday night in Firelands Conference play.

Trace McVey led the way for the Big Red with three hits while Carson Tucker and Jansen Potts had one hit apiece. McVey had two RBIs in the loss.

The Big Red is now 6-10 on the year.

Crestview 4, South Central 3

Thursday, May 4

Crestview 2, Northmor 1

The Crestview Cougars picked up an impressive nonconference win over Northmor on Thursday, 2-1.

Gavin Barker led the way with two hits while Matthew Volz, Jarek Ringler, Tyson Ringler, Brennan Fulk and Dylan Bruner had one hit apiece. Tyson Ringler and Bruner had one RBIs apiece in the victory.

Volz earned the win on the mound with three strikeouts.

Crestview improved to 13-4 on the year.

Mansfield Christian 31, Harvest Prep 0 F/5

The Mansfield Christian Flames saw an offensive explosion on Thursday night beating Harvest Prep 31-0 in nonconference action.

Ethan Bishop led the way with four hits while Adam McLaughlin had two and Caleb Gregory, Isaac Hillman, Cale Everroad, JR Reeder and Kadyn Klecka had one hit apiece. Bishop had seven RBIs while Brock Rentzel and McLaughlin had four apiece, Joshua Gregory and Klecka had three apiece, Reeder had two and Caleb Gregory, Everroad, Blayne Morrow,  Aidan Karger and Gavin Webb had one RBI apiece. Ethan Bishop clubbed a home run in the win.

Hillman earned the win on the mound tossing a 5-inning no-hitter with 11 strikeouts.

The Flames improve to 2-15 on the season.

Marion Harding 6, Ontario 2

The Ontario Warriors took a tough Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference loss to Marion Harding on Thursday night, 6-2.

Gage Weaver led the way with three hits while Jayden Leach, Carter Weaver and Carter Walters had two hits apiece and Braxton Hall had one. Leach had the lone RBI in the loss.

Ontario falls to 7-10 on the year.

West Holmes 4, Lexington 3 F/9

The Lexington Minutemen took a tough 4-3 loss to West Holmes on Thursday in Ohio Cardinal Conference play.

The Madison Rams took a tough 11-5 Ohio Cardinal Conference loss to Wooster on Thursday night.

Rian Lunsford led the way with two hits while Owen Morrow, Zach Glasgo, Cameron Kuhn and Ethan Glasgo had one hit apiece. Kuhn collected two RBIs while Lunsford and Ethan Glasgo had one RBI apiece.

Cannan Slone, Shae Sparks and Elliott Hall led the way with two hits apiece while Jansen Potts, Carson Tucker, Trace McVey and Jarrett Burrer had one hit apiece. Slone and Burrer had two RBIs apiece while Sparks had one. Slone clubbed a home run in the victory.

The Big Red is now 6-8 on the season.

The Plymouth Big Red picked up a nice Firelands Conference victory over Monroeville on Friday night, 22-7.

Cannan Slone led the way with three hits while Shae Sparks, Jarrett Burrer and Jansen Potts had two hits apiece and Carson Tucker, Colton Hass, Garrett Bishop and Elliott Hall had one hit apiece. Sparks and Potts had three RBIs apiece while Trace McVey, Ashton Jackson and Hall had two apiece and Bishop and Braden Montgomery had one RBI apiece.

Jackson earned the win on the mound allowing seven runs, just four earned, on five hits with two strikeouts in four innings.

The Big Red improve to 5-8 on the season.

Lexington 8, Norwalk 3

The Lexington Minutemen picked up an impressive 8-3 win over Norwalk on Thursday in nonconference action.

Chance Basilone led the way with three hits while Mike Togliatti, Jaxon Brown, Braden MuMaw and Zian Rhodes had one hit apiece. Basilone, Mumaw, Rhodes and Mitch Riegel had one RBI apiece.

Rhodes earned the win on the mound working the final three innings allowing no runs on no hits with five strikeouts.

The Minutemen are now 8-10 on the season.

Shelby 7, Upper Sandusky 6 F/8

The Shelby Whippets won another tight one on Thursday night beating Upper Sandusky 7-6 in nonconference action with a walkoff.

James Mahon led the way with four hits for Shelby while Nic Eyster added three, Alex Bruskotter had two and Quinton Albert added one hit. Eyster had two RBIs while Mahon and Karsen Homan had one apiece.

Mahon worked the first five innings on the mound allowing six runs on four hits with four strikeouts. Homan got the win working the final three innings allowing just one hit with two strikeouts.

The Whippets are now 9-5 on the season.

The Madison Rams picked up an impressive nonconference win over Marion Harding on Thursday night, 6-1.

The Mansfield Senior Tygers took a tough 4-0 loss to Toledo Bowsher on Thursday evening in nonconference action.

The Shelby Whippets completed the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference sweep over River Valley on Wednesday night winning 3-2.

Nic Eyster led the way with two hits while Tanner Hartz, Kamdyn Wheeler, Alex Bruskotter, Quinton Albert and James Mahon had one hit apiece. Hartz and Albert had one RBI apiece in the win.

Eyster earned the win on the mound allowing two unearned runs on five hits with two strikeouts. Mahon picked up the save working the final inning by not surrendering a single hit with one strikeout.

The Clear Fork Colts picked up a dominant 12-0 Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference win over Marion Harding on Wednesday night.

The Madison Rams picked up and impressive 4-1 victory over Ashland on Tuesday night in Ohio Cardinal Conference play.

Gavin Cates, Ethan Glasgo, Cameron Kuhn, Shaun Cains Jr. and Rian Lunsford all had one hit apiece for the Rams. Lunsford had the lone RBI in the win.

Cates picked up the win on the mound allowing one unearned run on four hits in four innings of work while Liam Stone worked the final three innings striking out one and not allowing a single hit.

The Rams are now 6-9 on the season.

Jarek Ringler picked up the win on the mound allowing three runs on three hits with nine strikeouts in seven innings of work.

The Ontario Warriors finally came out on the right side of a close game by beating Galion 5-4 in MOAC play Tuesday night.

Carter Weaver had two hits while Caden Boebel, Jayden Leach and Carter Walters had one hit apiece. Boebel collected two RBIs while Walters and Leach added one apiece.

Weaver started the game on the mound for Ontario and allowed four runs on four hits with a strikeout in four innings. Jake Chapman worked the final three innings allowing just two hits the rest of the way.

The Lexington Minutemen earned a dominating 11-0 Ohio Cardinal Conference victory over Mansfield Senior on Tuesday, 11-0.

Zian Rhodes led the Minutemen with three hits while Aedan Nicol had two and Jaxon Brown, Braden Mumaw, Markale Martin and Landon Hamilton had one apiece. Mumaw had three RBIs while Rhodes had two and Chance Basilone, Brown, Nicol, Donovan Legron and Hamilton had one apiece. Mumaw clubbed a home run in the victory.

Colton Murfield and Hamilton teamed up on the mound to hold the Tygers to just two hits over five innings with nine strikeouts. Murfield had seven Ks.

Albert collected six RBIs while Schwemley, Wheeler, Kennard and Mahon had two apiece and Harts had one. Albert slugged a home run in the win.

The Crestview Cougars took a tough 9-7 nonconference loss to Galion on Thursday night.

Tyson Ringler led the Cougars with three hits while Owen Barker, Mason Ringler and Dylan Bruner had two apiece and Matthew Volz and Jarek Ringler had one apiece. Owen Barker and Mason Ringler had two RBIs apiece while Volz and Bruner had one RBI each.

The Cougars fall to 9-2 overall.

The Shelby Whippets and Clyde Fliers battled to a 12-12 draw on Thursday as their game was suspended due to darkness in the ninth inning.

Nic Eyster had a big day at the plate with four hits while Tanner Hartz and James Mahon had three apiece, Elijah Schwemley, Kamdyn Wheeler and Maverick Noel had two hits apiece and Landon Kennard and Karsen Homan had one hit apiece. Rian Lunsford led the way with four hits while Gavin Cates, Zach Glasgo and David Yockey had three hits apiece for the Rams, Liam Stone had two hits and Owen Morrow, Ethan Glasgo, Shaun Cains Jr. and Elijah Fox had one hit apiece. Lunsford had seven RBIs while Gavin Cates had five, Zach Glasgo, Cains Jr. and Yockey had three apiece, Cameron Kuhn had two and Morrow rounded things out with one.

Grayson Sanders and Braylon Hess led the Tygers with two hits apiece while Joshua Malone and Peyton Page had one hit apiece. Page collected three RBIs while Malone and Jake Zimmer had one RBI apiece.

Matthew Volz led the way with three hits while Owen Barker had two and Jarek Ringler, Tyson Ringler, Brennan Fulk, Klint Patton and Kylan Bruner had one hit apiece. Volz, Barker and Mason Ringler had two RBIs apiece while Jarek Ringler had one.

Mason Ringler earned the win on the mound working a complete game with two strikeouts and allowed just two hits.

The Lucas Cubs picked up another Mid-Buckeye Conference win over Crestline on Tuesday night winning 16-0.

Hunter Church led the Cubs with three hits while Cale Porter had two hits and Andrew Smollen, Judah Chamberlin, Brayden Spitler and Will Whitesel had one hit apiece. Chamberlin had a home run in the victory.

Kasey Swank led the Colts with three hits while Jay Jackson, Luke Schlosser, Kaden Riddle, Garret Hotz, Champ Delancy, Nate Lind and Mason Sansom had one hit apiece. Swank had three RBIs while Riddle and Delancy had two apiece and Lind and Sansom had one apiece.

Luke Drockton had the pitching outing of his life working all five innings striking out four and walking three while tossing a no-hitter.

The Big Red did not record a hit in the loss.

Clear Fork improves to 6-1 on the year while Plymouth falls to 0-3.

The Shelby Whippets picked up a solid nonconference win over Huron on Saturday winning 8-1.

Kamdyn Wheeler led the way with three hits while Nic Eyster, Elijah Schwemley, Quinton Albert, Landon Kennard, Karson Homan and James Mahon led the way with one hit apiece. Eyster, Canden Dorsey, Albert, Kennard, Hohman and Wheeler all had one RBI apiece for a nice, balanced offensive day.

Kennard earned the win on the mound working six innings allowing one run on three hits with nine strikeouts.

The Whippets improved to 4-2 on the year.

The Madison Rams took a tough 6-3 loss to Galion in Game 1 of a nonconference doubleheader on Saturday.

Luke Schlosser led the way with two hits while Kaden Riddle, Garret Hotz, Chandler Ball, Nate Lind, Ty Sellers and Mason Sansom had one hit apiece. Riddle had two RBIs which came on a two-run double in the top of the ninth to break a 1-1 tie.

Riddle started the game on the mound working five innings allowing one run on no hits with six strikeouts. Hotz got the win by working the final four innings allowing no runs on two hits with seven strikeouts.

The Ontario Warriors took a tough 3-2 loss to Wynford on Thursday night in nonconference action.

Carter Weaver and Jake Chapman led Ontario with two hits apiece while Jayden Leach, Carter Walters and Braxton Hall had one hit apiece in the loss.

Three pitchers, Peyton Dzugan, Leach and Walters, combined to work six innings allowing three runs, just one earned, on five hits with three strikeouts.

The Warriors fall to 0-4 on the year.

Willard 5, Crestview 4

The Crestview Cougars took a tough 5-4 loss to Willard on Thursday night in nonconference action.

Dylan Bruner, Owen Barker, Gavin Barker, Matthew Volz and Mason Ringler all had one hit apiece for the Cougars. Volz and Ringler had one RBI apiece in the loss.

Ringler pitched well enough to win working six innings allowing five runs, only two were earned, on five hits with four strikeouts.

Crestview falls to 1-1 on the year.

Lexington 4, Madison 1

Wednesday, March 29

Shelby 17, Pleasant 7 F/5

The Shelby Whippets overcame a slow start to put a stamp on a 17-7 Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference win over Pleasant on Wednesday night.

Elijah Schwemley and Karson Homan both had two hits apiece while Nic Eyster, Alex Bruskotter, Quinton Albert, Kamdyn Wheeler and James Mahon all had one hit apiece for the Whippets. Bruskotter had three RBIs while Homan and Tanner Hartz had two RBIs apiece and Eyster, Albert, Wheeler and Mahon had one apiece.

Eyster earned the win on the mound working four innings allowing seven runs on four hits with four strikeouts.

The Whippets are now 3-0.

Clear Fork 13, River Valley 0 F/5

The Clear Fork Colts picked up an easy 13-0 win over River Valley on Wednesday in Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference play.

Kaden Riddle and Garret Hotz led the way with three hits apiece while Jay Jackson, Luke Schlosser and Mason Sansom added two hits apiece and Ty Sellers, Kasey Swank and Nate Lind had one hit apiece. Jackson drove in three runs while Schlosser, Riddle and Hotz had two RBIs apiece and Swank and Lind had one apiece. Hotz clubbed a home run in the win.

Schlosser took the victory on the mound working 3 ⅔ innings allowing just one hit with seven strikeouts.

The Colts improve to 2-0 on the year.

Highland 14, Ontario 4 F/5

The Ontario Warriors took a tough 14-4 loss to Highland on Wednesday night in Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference action.

Gage Weaver led Ontario with two hits while Carter Weaver and Braxton Hall had one apiece. Gage Weaver collected the lone two RBIs of the night for the Warriors.

Ontario falls to 0-3.

New Philadelphia 11, Mansfield Senior 0 F/5

The Mansfield Senior Tygers took a tough Ohio Cardinal Conference loss to New Philadelphia on Wednesday night, 11-0.

Joshua Malone, Grayson Sanders and Justin Bland all had one hit apiece for the Tygers.

Mansfield Senior is now 0-2.

Tuesday, March 28

Lucas 10, Danville 2

Andrew Smollen seemed to be in mid-season form as the Lucas Cubs picked up a season-opening win over Danville on Tuesday night. In a 10-2 win, Smollen piled up 17 strikeouts to help the Cubs improve to 1-0 to start the season.

Corbin Toms, Smollen, Hunter Church, Bobby Grover and Judah Chamberlin all had one or more RBIs in the victory.

Shelby 20, Pleasant 4

The Shelby Whippets saw an offensive explosion in a 20-4 Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference win over Pleasant on Tuesday night.

James Mahon led the Whippets with three hits while Nic Eyster, Elijah Schwemley, Quinton Albert and Landon Kennard had two hits apiece and Alex Bruskotter, Tanner Hartz and Kamdyn Wheeler had one apiece. Eyster collected four RBIs while Bruskotter, Schwemley and Kennard had two apiece and Albert, Wheeler, Hartz and Mahon added one apiece.

Kennard picked up the win on the mound working the first three innings allowing four runs, three earned, on three hits with four strikeouts while Bruskotter slammed the door working the final two innings and didn't surrender a single hit with two strikeouts.

The Whippets improve to 2-0 and host Pleasant on Wednesday.

Clear Fork 9, River Valley 1

The Clear Fork Colts earned an impressive 9-1 victory over River Valley to open up the 2023 season as well as Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference play. It was head coach Gabe Kennedy's first varsity coaching win of his career.

Jay Jackson led the Colts with three hits while Luke Schlosser, Garret Hotz, Kasey Swank, Nate Lind and Mason Sansom had one hit apiece. Jackson and Sansom led the way with two RBIs while Schlosser had one.

Kaden Riddle earned the win on the mount working the first five innings allowing just two hits with five strikeouts. Chandler Ball worked the final two innings allowing one run on one hit with four strikeouts.

The Colts improve to 1-0 and travel to River Valley on Wednesday.

Crestview 2, Norwalk 1

The Crestview Cougars picked up an impressive nonconference win over Norwalk on Tuesday night, 2-1.

The Cougars did not record a single hit in the win but did draw nine walks as Matthew Volz and Jarek Ringler each scored runs. The Cougars stole six bases in the win.

Crestview improves to 1-0 and travels to Willard on Thursday.

Madison 2, Lexington 1

The Madison Rams picked up a nice season-opening win over Lexington on Tuesday to being Ohio Cardinal Conference play the right way with a 2-1 victory.

Cameron Kuhn led the way with three hits while Gavin Cates, Zach Glasgo and EJ Fox had one hit apiece. Liam Stone had the lone two RBIs for the Rams.

Ethan Glasgo earned the win on the mount working all seven innings allowing one unearned run on five hits with five strikeouts.

Markale Martin led Lex with two hits while Chance Basilone, Braden Mumaw and Mike Togliatti had one hit apiece.

Colton Murfield pitched well for Lexington working all seven innings allowing two runs, one earned, on six hits with 11 strikeouts.

Madison improves to 1-0 while Lexington falls to 0-2. The two teams meet up again on Wednesday at Madison.

Highland 8, Ontario 0

The Ontario Warriors took a tough 8-0 loss to Highland on Tuesday to begin Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference play.

Colten Ramion and Jayden Leach had one hit apiece for the Warriors as the lone offensive highlights.

The Warriors fall to 0-2 and travel to Highland on Wednesday.

New Philadelphia 7, Mansfield Senior 0

The Mansfield Senior Tygers took a tough 7-0 Ohio Cardinal Conference loss to New Philadelphia on Tuesday night.

Guy Trader had the lone hit for the Tygers.

Mansfield Senior falls to 0-1 and hosts New Philly on Wednesday.

Monday, March 27

Shelby 7, Norwalk 0

The Shelby Whippets earned an impressive nonconference win on Monday beating Norwalk 7-0 in their first game on the new turf.

Quinton Albert, Landon Kennard and Tanner Hartz all had two hits apiece while Elijah Schwemley Karson Homan, James Mahon and Kamdyn Wheeler added one hit apiece. Wheeler had two RBIs while Hartz and Maverick Noel had one RBI apiece.

Nick Eyster earned the win on the mound working the first two innings allowing no hits with two strikeouts. Canden Dorsey, Mahon and Homan worked the final five innings ane allowed just two hits and two walks. All four pitchers combined for nine strikeouts in a dominant performance.

Shelby improves to 1-0 and travels to Pleasant on Tuesday.

Galion 17, Lexington 7

The Lexington Minutemen took a tough 17-7 loss to Galion on Monday night in nonconference action.

Zian Rhodes led Lex with four hits while Jaxon Brown had two and Chance Basilone, Markale Martin and Mike Togliatti had one hit apiece. Rhodes had a pair of RBIs while Brown, Braden Mumaw and Aedan Nicol had one RBI apiece.

Four pitchers combined to work 5 ⅔ innings allowing 11 hits and 17 runs, with seven walks and six strikeouts. Lex had eight errors on defense. The Minutemen drop to 0-1 and host Madison on Tuesday.

Saturday, March 25

Perkins 9, Ontario 5

The Ontario Warriors took a tough loss on Opening Day at Perkins on Saturday, 9-5 in nonconference action.

Colten Ramion led the way offensively for the Warriors with two hits while Carter Weaver, Jayden LEach, Carter Walters, Braxton Hall, Jake Chapman and Caden Boebel had one hit apiece. Leach had a double while Chapman and Weaver both had triples in the loss.

Leach, Drew Yetter and Chapman all saw time on the mound and between the three, allowed nine hits, nine earned runs and waked 11 while striking out four in six innings.

The Warriors fall to 0-1 and travel to Wynford on Monday.
