RICHMOND, Ind. — The Richmond Community Orchestra blends a couple of TV show and movie theme songs with a seasonal composition and several classical pieces for its Halloween show.

The performance takes place at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, at Goddard Auditorium in Earlham College’s Carpenter Hall.

Pieces on Sunday’s program are expected to include "Prelude to Carmen" by Bizet; "Procession of the Nobles" by Rimsky-Korsakov; "Introduction & Rondo in A Minor" by the orchestra’s music director/conductor Jay Conard of Preble County, Ohio; "Danse Macabre" by Saint-Saens; "The Wild, Wild West" by Markowitz; "Overture in D Minor" by Handel; "Wedding Day at Troldhaugen" by Grieg; and "Star Trek Through The Years" arranged by Custer.

Admission is free, although donations toward orchestra expenses are welcome. Earlham College officials encourage campus visitors to wear face masks while attending large indoor events such as the RCO concert.

Orchestra members range from high school students to music enthusiasts in their 90s. They represent a variety of professions such as music education, medicine, dentistry and information technology.

In addition to playing a few concerts each year, the orchestra also is resuming its Strings Initiative Program this fall. The program offers free violin lessons to local children at Townsend Community Center in Richmond and Preble Arts in Eaton, Ohio.
