Richmond Heights to host city's first MLK Day of Service

Jan. 5—Richmond Heights will host its first MLK Day of Service to celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.

"We accomplished many of our 2022 goals, and we still have so much work to do," Mayor Kim Thomas said. "We will start 2023 year off the same way we ended 2022, by serving our community the best we can."

The Day of Service will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Jan. 16, at Richmond Heights Community Center, 27285 Highland Road. The event is free for residents but requires registration by calling 216-486-2474, ext. 200

Registrations will be taken through Jan. 10.

At the service a free brunch will be served courtesy of the city, and Thomas said that if there are individuals who are unable to attend in person, delivery can be arranged.

The event will have music and guest speakers.

Additionally, the mayor is looking for volunteers who can help prepare, deliver and serve food.

Thomas said limited space is available.
