Richmond police arrest Lynn man on heroin, resisting charges

RICHMOND, Ind. — A Lynn man performing maintenance work on what Richmond police believed was a stolen motorcycle allegedly had more than 20 grams of heroin in his possession when approached by officers.

Dylan G. Resetar, 28, was charged Monday in Wayne Superior Court 2 with possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 3 felony carrying up to 16 years in prison, and resisting law enforcement, a misdemeanor.

A Richmond police officer reported he observed Resetar working on the motorcycle — which authorities in Tippecanoe County had earlier reported stolen, listing the Lynn man as a suspect — in an alley between North 17th and 18th streets last Friday afternoon.

Resetar denied he stole the motorcycle, the officer reported, and then tried to run away. The officer tried to deploy his electronic stun device, apparently unsuccessfully.

As he fled, the officer saw Resetar throw what was later determined to be a small plastic container that held 23 grams of heroin, according to an affidavit.

Another officer was able to catch Resetar after a foot chase.

Because the stun device had been used, he was taken to Redi Hospital for an examination before being delivered to the Wayne County jail.

He continued to be held in the jail on Tuesday under a $35,000 bond.

According to court records, the Lynn resident has been convicted of crimes including dealing in a narcotic drug, battery resulting in bodily injury, possession of meth and driving while intoxicated.
