Get rid of household hazardous waste and old electronics at special Lakeland event Saturday

Lakeland’s Division of Solid Waste will host a free Household Hazardous Waste and End of Life Electronics event Saturday in conjunction with the Polk County Solid Waste Division.

The event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon at 605 Evelyn Ave., off Parker Street in Lakeland. This mobile collection event is intended to make it more convenient to safely dispose of waste and discarded electronic equipment.

Accepted household waste includes paints, paint thinners, florescent light bulbs, motor oil, drain cleaners, pool chemicals, insecticides and household batteries.

Accepted electronics include computers, monitors, keyboards, terminals, televisions, stereos, printers, fax machines, video games consoles and wireless devices. No more than five items per household.
