Ride-share driver victim of carjacking in Lawndale neighborhood
A ride-share driver was the victim of a carjacking early Saturday morning when he was summoned to pick up a potential passenger in the Lawndale neighborhood but instead was punched in the face and pulled out his vehicle, Chicago police said.
Shortly before 3 a.m., the victim was alerted to pick up a passenger in the 1800 block of South Avers Avenue, but when he arrived he was assaulted by two males and pulled out of his vehicle, police said.
The two men then fled the scene in the victim’s gray 2018 Hyundai Elantra hatchback, police said.
The offenders were wearing masks and dark clothing.
The victim refused medical treatment, and detectives were investigating.
