Aug. 3—WILLMAR — The Ridgewater College Marketing and Sales Management Program will offer a four-week sales academy with partner NBA champion Milwaukee Bucks.

In a news release, the college announced the course this way: "Ridgewater has a slam-dunk, unique opportunity for you this fall!"

The course is scheduled for each Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. beginning Aug. 26, as part of the online Professional Sales course. Classes for the fall semester begin Aug. 23 on the campuses in Willmar and Hutchinson.

The course is designed to look at the business of professional sports teams and large-scale entertainment. The course will be open to both enrolled program students as well as Post-Secondary Enrollment Option high schoolers and visiting students interested in just this course.

"We are so excited about this opportunity for our students," said Ridgewater instructor Jennifer Quale. "This partnership with the Milwaukee Bucks offers a fun, hands-on opportunity to learn the skills needed to be successful in sales."

Sales jobs touch nearly every industry, offer a significant amount of flexibility and, with the right skill set, can provide lucrative and rewarding careers, she said.

In addition to the four-week sales academy, the Professional Sales course includes topics such as trust-based relationship selling, customer personality recognition and adaptation, networking, negotiation skills and sales presentations.

Interested students should enroll in the synchronous online Professional Sales course found on the course schedule. With synchronous courses, students are all logged in with the instructor at the same time for an interactive and engaging experience.

Ridgewater offers many courses that do not have prerequisites and are open to visiting students who are interested in learning or continuing education opportunities, but not earning a credential. This is one of those opportunities. Visiting students do not need to apply for admission to the college.

This course is expected to fill quickly, so anyone interested should register soon. Remaining class seats are limited.
