Rightboat ranks Panama City Beach among top 15 beaches with the most natural wonders in US

PANAMA CITY BEACH − Boasting white sandy beaches and emerald waters, the Beach continues to garner national attention.

According to a recent study done by Rightboat, an online retailer for new and used boats, Panama City Beach ranked 13 in a list of the top 15 beaches in the U.S. Here's what we know:

What is the list?

Dubbed the best beaches in the U.S. with the most natural wonders, the list in order from best to worst is:

  • Henderson Beach State Park in Destin.

  • Cape May Beach in Cape May County, New Jersey.

  • Lanikai Beach in Kailua, Hawaii.

  • Coronado Beach in Coronado, California.

  • Pensacola Beach.

  • Kailua Beach Park in Kailua, Hawaii.

  • Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area in Hawaii County, Hawaii.

  • Sombrero Beach in Marathon.

  • Ogunquit Beach in Ogunquit, Maine.

  • Napili Beach in Maui County, Hawaii.

  • St. Pete Beach.

  • Ho'okipa Beach Park in Maui County, Hawaii.

  • Panama City Beach.

  • Poipu Beach Park in Koloa, Hawaii.

  • Santa Monica State Beach in Los Angeles County, California.

How was the list formed?

A news release from Rightboat says the list was compiled using more than 313,000 reviews from TripAdvisor. The ranking was based on the overall reviews of the beaches, as well as the number of times each was associated with the phrases: marine life, clean beaches, clear water and beauty.

Did Rightboat note anything else in the study?

Along with ranking the beaches based on natural wonders, the study also listed Cape May Beach as the country's cleanest beach and best beach for spotting dolphins.

It also said the top three beaches in the U.S. where beachgoers are most likely will spot marine life are Ho'okipa Beach Park, Poipu Beach Park and Napili Beach.

What do locals have to say?

For Councilman Paul Casto, it came as no surprise to learn Panama City Beach was recognized by Rightboat as among the best beaches in the country.

Casto noted he has traveled to many beaches across the country and world, but PCB still is his favorite.

"I'm not surprised, (although) I still think we're No. 1 in the country," he said. "We're blessed to live here, and have this in our backyard everyday."
