  • Rihanna and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey have donated $2.1 million each to the Mayor's Fund for Los Angeles.

  • The $4.2 million grant will cover the cost of people with children seeking access to shelters, as "Stay at Home" orders make those facing domestic violence, and their children, unsafe.

  • Rihanna previously donated $5 million to global coronavirus relief.

Rihanna is teaming up with Jack Dorsey, the CEO of Twitter, to provide funding for people in Los Angeles seeking shelter amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, "Rihanna's Clara Lionel Foundation and Dorsey have each committed $2.1 million that will go toward providing shelter, food, and counseling services to individuals and their children." During the coronavirus pandemic, people facing domestic abuse at home are particularly vulnerable, especially as the demand for shelter spaces can be limited.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed, per a representative for Rihanna's Clara Lionel Foundation, that the money "will be directed toward 10 weeks of expenses for shelter, meals and counseling for individuals and children suffering from domestic violence at a time when shelters are full and incidents are reportedly on the rise."

Earlier this week, Dorsey also committed to donating $1 billion to fight coronavirus. Per The New York Times, "the chief executive of Twitter and Square, said on Tuesday that he planned to donate $1 billion, or just under a third of his total wealth, to relief programs related to the coronavirus, in one of the more significant efforts by a tech billionaire to fight the pandemic."
