Ring in the New Year with these seven places in Iowa City, including dueling pianos, fireworks and hatchets.

You don’t have to travel far to usher in the new year with a bang.

Iowa City venues including Elray’s Live and Dive, Big Grove Brewery and Wildwood Saloon are throwing the party. All you have to do is show up.

Whether you’re itching to celebrate the last day of 2022 on the dance floor, or content listening to some live music, here’s seven places to stop in for a New Year’s Eve bash.

Bonus, the little ones in your life don’t have to miss out with a few kid-friendly parties earlier in the day.

Vue Rooftop

Celebrate the new year with the best view on this list.

The rooftop bar and restaurant is hosting New Year’s Eve with a dinner buffet, a live performance from dueling pianos all night, a midnight balloon drop and champagne toast, a photo booth and a midnight snack buffet.

That’s all included in the $99 ticket.

Dinner starts at 8 p.m. on the second floor ballroom, followed by Dueling Piano performances from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Discounted hotel rooms will be available with a purchase of the ticket, making it easy for those that live further to end their night safely.

Visit Vue Rooftop’s website to purchase tickets.

Elray’s Live and Dive

Three bands and two DJs will make for one music-filled evening at Elray’s Live and Dive.

At 6:30, Iowa Blues Hall of Famer Kevin Burt will take the stage with his band the Brotherhood.

The Waterloo native has performed countless gigs, including for Summer of the Arts’ Soul & Blues Festival. He’s the winner of the 2018 Memphis International Blues Challenge.

In the back room stage, Iowa City’s Part Time Vegan will perform their mix of alternative, indie and garage rock at 8 p.m.

Independent country music artist Krista Lynn Meadow will perform at 10 p.m. with her band. She also performs Friday for folks who want to catch a performance early.

Doors open at 6 p.m. with a $10 cover charge. It’ll bump up to $20 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Visit Elray’s Live and Dive’s website to purchase tickets in advance.

Big Grove Brewery

New Year’s Eve parties don’t have to be just for adults.

At Big Grove Brewery, little ones are invited to two kid parties from either 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The free event includes a balloon drop with a video of the ball drop on the big screen at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.

There will also be all-you-can-eat cake balls, cotton candy and a snack mix for $5.

Adults can catch the University of Iowa versus University of Kentucky football game starting at 11 a.m. in the meantime.

Those 21 and older are invited back to Big Grove Brewery for an adults only New Year's Eve party at 9 p.m.

The $25 ticketed event includes a live DJ dance party, snacks and a firework show at midnight.

Iowa Children’s Museum

Noisemakers, balloons and other celebratory items will be handed out as the countdown begins over the speaker system. Meanwhile, visitors can make their own party hat, take a selfie in the photo station and complete a countdown scavenger hunt.

All activities are included with regular museum admission, which is $10 for children and adults and $9 for people 60 and older.

The Iowa Children’s Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
