Ringing in the Spring in Spartanburg: Here are our favorite family-friendly events

Spring is in the air, so it's time to enjoy the warmer weather and the exciting events Spartanburg has to offer.

It's time to go explore the outdoors and soak up the sunshine with festivals, farmers markets, live outdoor music and more.

The Hub City Hog Fest kicks off the spring festival season Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1. After that, events like Spring Fling, Spartanburg Fest, Greer Goes Global and Music on Main are all worth circling on your calendar.

So get your family or friend groups together and get out and enjoy these spring events in Spartanburg.

Downtown Spartanburg: Hub City Hog Fest

The 2023 Hub City Hog Fest is coming to downtown Spartanburg soon, and it promises to be an amazing event. What better way to enjoy spring than to enjoy the live music and intense, barbeque competition that raises money for Mobile Meals of Spartanburg.

There will be plenty of food available, so make sure you come on an empty stomach. Samples will be available to try on Friday and Saturday, along with seven food trucks and Budweiser Spartanburg selling craft and domestic beer. Live music will also be performed, all day Friday and Saturday.

Hog Fest will take place in downtown Spartanburg, at Morgan Square, on March 31 (Noon until 11 P.M.) and April 1 (Noon until 9 P.M.).

Admission will be free on March 31 from noon until 5:00 P.M., and wristbands will have to be purchased after 5:00 P.M. for $5. Admission for April 1 is $5, all day. Children 10 and under are free.

Town of Duncan: Magical Easter Event & Egg Hunt

The Town of Duncan will host a Magical Easter Event & Egg Hunt, Friday, March 31, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Duncan Event Center (119 S. Spencer St.)

Illusionist Joseph Young will be the featured performer. The event will feature an Easter egg hunt, food trucks, a DJ, face painting, a petting zoo, bounce houses and train rides.

Downtown Spartanburg: Spring Fling

Spartanburg's annual street festival, Spring Fling, offers live music and performances, street vendors and attractions for all ages. And of course, the annual Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System Criterium kickstarts the events.

Spring Fling will be hosted throughout downtown Spartanburg, with entertainment set up on Morgan Square, Main Street and Spring Street. The dates and times for Spring Fling are: Friday, April 28, 5 to 10 p.m.; Saturday, April 29, 11 to 9 p.m.; Sunday, April 30, noon to 6 p.m.

Here is the list for scheduled events and attractions that will be hosted:

  • April 28: Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System Criterium at 3 p.m.

  • April 29: The Answer's Carolina Classic Car Show from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m., Art of Hip Hop from 6:30 until 9 p.m. and Craft Brew Experience all day.

  • April 30: Spartanburg's Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club Bike Show all day and Craft Brew Experience all day.

Westgate Mall: Spartanburg Fest

Come and enjoy classic, carnival favorites such as rides, funnel cake and more at the Spartanburg Fest. This festival will feature 20 rides, fun carnival games and many food vendors.

Spartanburg Fest will be hosted at the Westgate Mall, located at 205 W. Blackstock Road, Spartanburg. The festival will be held from April 6-16, and gates will open at 5 p.m. on weekdays and 1 p.m. on weekends.

Here is the information about ticket and entrance pricing:

• Gate entrance with no rides: $5 (Children 5 years and younger free).• Unlimited rides and gate admission: $25 on weekdays and $30 on weekends.• Online ticket purchases are $20 on their website.• Individual ride purchases can be made at on-site ticket stands.

Downtown Spartanburg: Music on Main

Music on Main is back with live music in downtown Spartanburg. Bring your friends and family for Spartanburg's most-anticipated outdoor concert. Enjoy local performers every Thursday evening, from 5:30 until 8:30 p.m., beginning April 6 until July 27.

Downtown Greer: Greer Goes Global: International Festival

Celebrate the cultures of the Upstate at the Greer Goes Global: International Festival. The event features performances, sports, featured country tents an International Market and food from all over the world, according to visitgreenvillesc.com.

The free event will be held April 29 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 301 E. Poinsett Street in downtown Greer.
