Coca-Cola has collaborated with Riot Games, the developer of League of Legends, in launching the newest limited-edition flavour from Coca-Cola Creations.

According to Riot, Coca-Cola Ultimate Zero Sugar will give fans and players a "taste of experience points (+XP)" and "honour every player's journey, from their first time on the Rift to their attempt to win the Summoner's Cup at Worlds".

This is the first time that Coca-Cola has collaborated with a gaming company to develop a unique flavour, although it has previously launched other limited flavours such as the Starshine/Starlight, and a collab with DJ Marshmello.

League of Legends players in select markets will also have in-game and digital experiences, that will coincide with the product's release.

Coca-Cola Ultimate Zero Sugar's packaging design features black and various shades of gold, combining both brands.

A unique 'Ultimate' crest and a mystical blue Hextech glow in the classic Coca-Cola Creations logo was inspired by League of Legends' Nexus Crystals.

Coca-Cola Creations Hub

Scanning the QR code on a can of Coca-Cola Ultimate Zero Sugar will take players to the Coca-Cola Creations Hub, a central location for all of the various digital experiences that make up the Coca-Cola Creations brand.

One of the features on the Creations Hub is the Ultimate Emote Generator, which is an Instagram filter that looks like a League of Legends emote.

Free in-game rewards for all

If the drink isn't available where you are, you can still participate in the event in-game by completing a series of new League of Legends missions to earn free, limited-edition Ultimate emotes. These include the following:

  • Get 7 assists in a single game to earn the Ultimate Teamplay emote

  • Earn 12,000 gold in a single game to earn the Ultimate Gains emote

  • Win a game in under 20 minutes to earn the Ultimate Tempo emote

The Ultimate emotes will be available to unlock until July 18 at 11.59pm. PT. (2pm Singapore Time)

The company will also introduce more limited-edition Coca-Cola Creations, which will include "novel ideas and surprising partnerships" throughout 2023.

“We’re excited for players to taste the new +XP flavour, a unique and bespoke collaboration with Coca-Cola,” said David Mulhall, Head of Business Development and Partnerships at Riot Games, in a media statement, who said that Coca-Cola shared many values with Riot.

Rina Surya, Frontline Marketing Director at Coca-Cola ASEAN & South Pacific – Singapore & Malaysia, said partnering with Riot enabled the brand to "introduce a fresh flavour that represents our shared commitment to putting fans and players at the forefront of everything we do".
