Rise & Shine! Your Newport County guide for Aug. 3

Living in the Ocean State we're certainly familiar with seeing "market rate" on the menu when we go to restaurants.

How much is the 1 1/2 pound steamed lobster? Market rate.

And lately it feels like more places you go the prices on menu boards have been covered in tape and rewritten to reflect the latest price hike.

It's an unfortunate circumstance that restaurants have had to pass on to customers as factors from supply chain issues to gas prices cause everything to go up.

It's really put a hamper on my chicken wing eating where it feels like costs have doubled in recent years. And of course when the order doesn't come out as anticipated it hurts a little more with the price so high.

Over the last couple of years we've written about wing shortages pausing wing nights and clam shacks taking clams off the menu. Today we report on the latest price increase to hit our wallets and like the others this one hurts.

Anyone who has eaten the fries at Mission knows how good they are. For some they're worth the trip alone, but has Scott Barrett reports you're now going to have to pay a little more for them.

Scott talked with Mission co-owner Anna Burnley after seeing a social media post explaining why the price was increasing.

Read today's story and find out why you'll be paying more, though hopefully it's just temporary.
