The weekend is upon us and once again it's going to be a hot one.

The National Weather Service has put a heat advisory in place until 8 p.m. Sunday as heat index values during the hottest parts of the could be in the 95-102 degree range.

Of course, a benefit to island living is the sea breeze and the quick opportunity to jump into the water to cool down. On the flip side, it's hard to beat the humidity without air conditioning.

With the heat in mind, if you haven't yet had a chance to check out Zane Wolfang's story on how the heat affects Newport's two big music festivals then I'd suggest pouring a glass of lemonade and finding a place in the shade to check it out.

If you were on social media during the Folk Festival two weeks ago you probably noticed a common theme: Festival goers talking about how hot it was. Sure Fort Adams is right by the water, but it is a fort with walls blocking off much of the breeze that may come.

For some it meant making the choice to skip the festival, which is probably a difficult decision when you're buying tickets back in the spring and the idea of hot weather seem pretty grand after a cold winter.

Others battled for limited spots in the shade and made passes by the misting fan.

While it was a little cooler for the Jazz Festival, Zane grabbed some temperature readers inside the fort on Friday and found there wasn't much of a difference between being in the shade or in the middle of the grounds.

Take a look at Zane's full story here.
