Rise & Shine! I’m Scott Barrett, managing editor for The Daily News, and today is May 14, the 134th day of the year — 231 days remain in 2022. On this day in 1904, the first U.S. Summer Olympics opened in St. Louis. The Games initially were awarded to Chicago, but shifted to St. Louis to be staged alongside the St. Louis World’s Fair, which ultimately overshadowed the athletic competition.
