Rising country star Jake Flint, 37, dead hours after his wedding: ‘He was loved by everybody’
Rising country star Jake Flint died this past weekend, just hours after his wedding. He was 37.
The “What’s Your Name?” and “Long Road Back Home” singer died in his sleep, mere hours after saying “I do” to wife Brenda Wilson Flint on Saturday, publicist Clif Doyal confirmed to The Oklahoman.
A cause of death has not yet been determined.
Flint’s new wife took to Facebook Monday with a video from the newlyweds’ nuptials, showing the couple dancing and laughing in wedded bliss.
“I don’t understand,” she captioned the sweet clip, which now takes on an entirely new significance.
Flint took to Instagram in January to announce he was soon to be a married man.
“So. We did a thing. Say hello to the future Mr. Brenda Wilson,” he captioned a selfie of himself and his then-fiancée. “#gettinhitched See y’all at Cain’s ballroom in a few months.”
“He was not only a client, he was a dear friend and just a super nice guy,” Doyal told The Oklahoman. “He was loved by everybody. I think a lot of it was just that he was a people person, and he had an amazing sense of humor. He made everybody laugh, and he made everybody feel welcome.”
Remembered by Doyal as “an ambassador for Oklahoma Red Dirt music,” Flint — who was influenced by the likes of Nirvana, Phish and The Great Divide — got into music after his father was diagnosed with ALS. He asked some friends to teach him guitar and introduce him to the bluegrass scene, according to the outlet.
Flint was “the funniest, most hilarious, hardest working, dedicated artist” that business adviser and former manager Brenda Cline said she’d ever worked with, according to her own Facebook post.
Doyal did not immediately respond to the Daily News’ request for comment.
