Rising Stars Take the Field: Dickinson Diamonds softball postseason underway

Jun. 21—DICKINSON — The humidity is up these days, but so are the athletes participating in the 12-and-under, 10-and-under and 8-and-under postseason softball tournament at Fisher Industries Sports Complex for the next week or so. The tourney got started yesterday with an eight-game slate for two of the age groups and will continue today with a pair of games at 5:30 and 6:45 p.m., while the 12-and-under games will be ongoing starting at 5:30.

In the opening-round 10U games on Tuesday, June 20, ENG Lending defeated Medicine Shoppe, 5-1, and Consolidated rolled to an 11-4 win over Fisher Industries, while in the 8U division Charbonneau Car Center dropped the Little Bluehawks, 6-3, and Steffes upended Logo Magic, 5-4.

In the 7 p.m. 10U games, Medicine Shoppe came back to win 10-5 over ENG Lending, while Dakota Community Bank & Trust topped Fisher Industries, 11-2. In the 8U games at 7 p.m., the Optimist Club blanked Pizza Ranch, 7-0, and the ENG Lending Orange team tipped Real Estate Co. 3-2 on Field 4.

For the June 21 Wednesday games, fans can expect to see the Little Bluehawks face Pizza Ranch at 5:30 p.m. in the 8U division, while Logo Magic will face Real Estate Co. in the 6:45 context, thereafter.

Meanwhile, there is a full slate of 12U games coming up this afternoon with Armstrong Corp squaring off against Bravera Bank on Field 4 and Elks Lodge 1137 facing Coca-Cola at 5:30 p.m. on Field 2 while Stevenson Funeral Home plays Simnioniw Family Chiropractic on Field 1. For the 6:45 p.m. games in the 12U division, Bravera Bank is scheduled to play Armstrong Corp. on Field 4 and Coca-Cola will play Elks Lodge 1137 on Field 2, with Simnioniw Family Chiropractic squaring off against Stevenson Funeral Home on Field 1 to wrap up the night.
