The company was not specific about the Coldwater closing.

“A decision to close a store is one we take very seriously and is based on a variety of factors including business strategy, lease and rent considerations, local business conditions and viability, and store performance," the company said in a statement.

Rite Aid shuttered 145 stores in 2022.

The company operates approximately 2,500 stores across 19 states. There are 247 in Michigan. None of the other stores in this area were closed.

Rite Aid said the employees at the closed store were given opportunities to transfer to other Rite Aid stores.

The company said, “We review every neighborhood to ensure our customers will have access to health services, be it at Rite Aid or a nearby pharmacy. We work to seamlessly transfer their prescriptions so there is no disruption of services.”
