Rite Aid Opening New Coronavirus Testing Sites In Ohio

CLEVELAND — Rite Aid has announced plans to open four new coronavirus testing sites in Ohio.

The pharmacy chain already operates several COVID-19 testing sites in Ohio. The new sites will operate through a drive-thru window. Self-swab nasal tests will be given to customers and testing will be overseen by Rite Aid pharmacists.

Testing is available from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. over the weekend. All adults, 18 or older, are eligible for testing, even if they are not showing symptoms of COVID-19. Customers can pre-register for testing online and schedule an appointment as soon as Thursday.

The new testing sites will be at the following Rite-Aid stores:

  • Cleveland: 10502 Saint Clair Ave

  • Defiance: 618 North Clinton Street

  • Dayton: 3875 Salem Ave

  • Salem: 2229 East State Street

Rite Aid is also opening COVID-19 testing sites in Michigan, New Jersey, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia this week. The pharmacy will now operate 92 testing sites around the nation. Rite Aid has the capacity to conduct 47,000 tests weekly across all its sites.

Gov. Mike DeWine recently announced that his leadership team was working with pharmacies like Rite Aid to expand testing capabilities in Ohio.

"With expanded testing criteria, our partnerships with these retailers, and our partnerships with community health centers are more important than ever," the governor said.

Ohio's COVID-19 website now boasts a section titled "Testing and Community Health Centers," which includes a list of retail stores offering COVID-19 testing. There are more than 40 retail sites offering testing statewide.
