Rittman hosts Santa, Christmas events and lighting contest throughout the season

The following are holiday events in Rittman:

  • Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. Anchor Heating, 81 E. Ohio Ave., will be host a drive-through with Santa and Grinch. Cindy Lou Who will meet and greet and do a toy giveaway. Each child will get a toy until supplies run out.

  • Dec. 3 at 3 p.m. the Rittman Historical Society will host its Christmas program at Knupp Church, 14300 Decourcey. An afternoon of signing and fellowship. Refreshments will be served.

  • Dec. 9 5-7 p.m. the Rittman Chamber of Commerce will host a Very Merry Rittman Christmas at the Rittman Rec Center, 200 Saurer St. Pictures with Santa Claus, cookie decorating, hot chocolate, crafts, games with prizes, bicycle raffle and candy cane bounce house. The Rittman Interludes, a vocal, jazz, a capella group, will sing. The mayor will reciting "The Night Before Christmas" and the Christmas tree lighting ceremony will happen.

  • Residents entered into a lighting decoration contest. Wilging Construction donated the first-place award of $250, Anchor Heating and Cooling donated the second-place award of $200 and Allscape Landscaping donated the third place award of $150. On Dec. 16 4-8 p.m. residents will be able to tour the homes participating and vote. A shuttle bus will leave from Rittman American Legion, 220 E. Sunset Drive, to see the decorated homes. Residents can pick up maps and voting ballots at the Legion and tour the homes on their own as well. In-between shuttle departures, families can enjoy hot chocolate, cookies, hot dogs, popcorn, cider, games and a coloring contest with prizes, and pictures with the Grinch inside the Legion Hall. Rylon Printing, The Rufener-Wilde Insurance Agency, Salt and Honey, H and R Block of Rittman, Schar Heating and Cooling, Greater Wayne Community Federal Credit Union, Renees Childcare and The Server donated the funds allowing the community to enjoy the festivities offered.

All of events are free.
