Some rivalry: Jets have lost 12 straight vs. Patriots

The Jets added another loss to their 2021 record on Sunday, but their futility against the Patriots goes back years.

With an embarrassing 54-13 Week 7 loss in New England, the 1-5 Jets have now lost 12 straight games against the Pats. That’s the longest streak ever for either team in this long, often one-sided rivalry, per ESPN’s Rich Cimini.

Sunday was the Jets’ first time allowing 50 points since 1995 and their first time allowing 54 points since 1979. Naturally, the Patriots were responsible for that beatdown, too.

The Jets have not beaten the Patriots since Dec. 27, 2015. And they haven’t won in New England since the 2010 playoffs. Frankly, that’s not much of a rivalry if you’re the Patriots.

New York’s latest loss was a pathetic one, as New England had a two-touchdown lead before the first quarter ended. The Patriots never looked back, and the Jets never came close to making the game competitive while dealing with multiple injuries — including a game-ender for Zach Wilson — a bland offense and a porous defense.

Lopsided scores in New England’s favor have been the case in a lot of recent Jets-Patriots matchups — including the first time these teams played this season in Week 2. But New York’s Week 7 showing was by far its ugliest of the season, and a reminder that this feud hasn’t had much juice lately.
