River Sharks fall to Port Huron

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – The Elmira River Sharks battled until the end.

In the first of a two-game series, the River Sharks fell to visiting Port Huron 3-2 at First Arena Thursday night. After a scoreless first period, Mitch Jones scored two goals in the second period giving the Prowlers the lead for good.

Mark Pozsar scored a goal at the 9:36 mark of the second period but Port Huron (13-12-4) pulled away with a third goal in the final frame by Alex Johnson making the game 3-1. Elmira’s Darius Davidson added the final score of the game cutting the Port Huron lead to 3-2 but that’s as close as the River Sharks would get.

Port Huron’s Tucker Tynan had 32 saves in the cage while Elmira’s Sammy Bernard notched 35 saves at goalie in the loss. Elmira (7-18-1) welcomes Port Huron again Friday night at 7:05 PM.
