River View Board of Education Notes

WARSAW − River View Local Schools Board of Education met recently for its regular monthly and annual organizational meetings.

Mindy Duncan was named president of the board with Gail Gallwitz as vice president and David Lapp as president pro tem. Evan Fischer was named legislative liaison to the Ohio Schools Boards Association with Gallwitz as the alternate.

Duncan and Lapp will serve on the insurance and wellness committee. Lapp and Charlie Wright will be on the buildings and grounds committee. Fischer and Duncan will be on the finance committee. Gallwitz and Duncan will serve on the policy committee. Fischer and Lapp will be on the negotiations committee. Gallwitz was appointed to the board of the Coshocton County Career Center.

Renee Anderson will be the designee to attend public records training and tend to all public record requests at a stipend of $750 per school year.

Regular meetings for the school year will be at 7:30 p.m. January to May and September to December and 8 p.m. June to August.

Donations of $4,261.91 were reported for December. This included $1,000 from the National FCCLA for the FACTS Projects and $500 from Claxon Communications for student athletic passes.

The board approved tutoring services through the Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center, alternative school services through the Jefferson County Educational Service Center, the substitute list from MVESC and the substitute list for secretaries and paraprofessionals. Added to the list of driving instructors were Homer Weekley, Richard Hall, Barb Funk and Jennifer Black.

Coaches for spring sports will be Willie Infante for varsity head softball, Kelsie Williamson as varsity softball assistant, Macy Patterson as junior varsity softball, Justin Williamson as a volunteer for softball, Stephanie Snyder as volunteer assistant for softball, Todd Liberator as varsity head baseball, Dustin Kent as varsity assistant baseball, Trase Berry as junior varsity baseball and Denny Holt, Dakota Williamson, Ryan Weaver and Pat Snyder as volunteers for baseball.

Home instruction was approved for a high school student from Dec. 8, 2022, to Sept. 2023, with grandparents transporting the student to the high school to meet with teacher Ken Henry on Mondays and Wednesdays after school. Transportation will be reimbursed by the district as previously approved.

Katlyn Eaton resigned as a paraprofessional at Warsaw Elementary. Tim Scheetz resigned as custodial help at Conesville Elementary. Abby Scheetz resigned as a custodian at Conesville Elementary.

Wes Brookover was moved from custodial helper at the junior high to custodian at Conesville with a salary adjustment of 16 cents an hour. Teresa Grashel will move from custodial helper at Keene Elementary to Conesville. Rebecca Hartsock in food service was moved from Warsaw to Keene at 5.75 hours a day for five days and Shirley Fry was moved from Keene to Warsaw at six hours a day for five days a week.

A Warsaw Elementary teacher was approved for four weeks of paternity leave. Chuck Rinkes was granted payment for 10 unused sick days and eight unused vacation days with a carryover of five vacation days. Lee Williamson will be paid for 10 unused vacation days and five days will carryover.

Employees carrying over unused vacation days into 2023 are Roger Boatman with 10, Kasey King with four, Jesse Wright and Suzanne St. Clair with three and Sheryl Bechtol and Shelia Robinette with one each.

Allison Granger was awarded a $250 stipend for band at Conesville and Keene and $250 for choirs at the schools for the school year. Christina Shrimplin was granted $250 for Warsaw Elementary band and $250 for choir for the school year.

Title IIA stipends of $180 for new math curriculum vetting for the school year were approved for Mark Gibson, Darcy Miller, Molly Bordenkircher, Brian Darr, Dan Shrimplin, Mark Hogue, Whitney Gensert and Renee Rahn.
