Riverdale star Lili Reinhart has shared a topless photo as she detailed her struggles with acne.

The actress, who played Betty Cooper on the teen-drama series, took to Instagram to reveal her issues with the skin condition, with the star hoping to raise awareness for her followers.

“Since I was 12, I’ve struggled with acne,” she began in the caption, accompanying three photos of her posing topless. “My skin has suffered consistent breakouts, hyperpigmentation, redness and scarring.

“I feel impassioned and motivated to find solutions for not only myself, but others who struggle as well. This is my skin now, makeup free… no filter. I can’t wait to share more about what I’ve been working on.”

Reinhart, who has also appeared in Hustlers and Chemical Hearts, recently spoke about the absurdity of Riverdale, which concluded in the summer with a seventh season.

“I think it's important to acknowledge that our show is made fun of a lot,” she said. “People see clips taken out of context and are like: 'What? I thought this was about teenagers.' And we thought so as well – in season one.

“It's really not been easy to feel that you're the butt of a joke. We all want to be actors; we're passionate about what we do. So when the absurdity of our show became a talking point, it was difficult.

“It is ‘What the f**k?’. That's the whole point. When we're doing our table reads and something ridiculous happens, [showrunner] Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa] is laughing because he understands the absurdity and the campiness.”

Whilst Riverdale has now ended, fans can look forward to another project based on Archie Comics, with Netflix set to release Hindi-language musical The Archies. The film follows the journey of the titular band, a version of which appeared in the fourth season of Riverdale.

Riverdale airs on The CW in the US and will end with season 7. In the UK, you can stream via Netflix.
