"Riverdale" Meets "Katy Keene" in New Crossover Episode Photos

Riverdale is finally headed to the Big Apple. Following news of a reported crossover episode between Riverdale and Katy Keene, a first look has arrived of what's sure to be an epic meeting of the minds.

Katy Keene, a Riverdale spin-off series staring Lucy Hale as the title character doesn't premiere until February 6, but People shared the first peek of Katy Keene meeting her longtime bestie, Veronica Lodge, Riverdale's resident teenage casino owner. As People explained, before Katy Keene officially premieres, Lucy's character will arrive in the Riverdale universe, introducing herself to fans and reuniting with Veronica.

Although the stills from the upcoming episode don't provide much detail, we do see the two characters interacting. In one photo, Veronica extends a hand to her best friend, and in another, the pair pose for a selfie.

News of the crossover episode was announced in December. At the time, Riverdale's creator, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, confirmed that Veronica would return to her New York City roots for the special meeting. "Before Katy Keene officially premieres, we all thought it would be super fun to do a crossover that took Veronica to Katy's world — New York City — and established Katy in the Riverdale universe," the creator said in a statement, per TV Fanatic. "For our first Riverdale/Katy crossover, we couldn't be more excited that it's old friends Veronica and Katy — Cami and Lucy —having fun and heart-to-hearts."

The initial photos definitely hint at a possible heart-to-heart, and it's likely this won't be the last time Riverdale and Katy Keene have a shared moment. As previously reported, Josie McCoy, formerly of Riverdale's Josie and the Pussycats, has been confirmed as a permanent Katy Keene cast member. It was also hinted that Archie Andrews may find himself in the city too.

Thankfully, it doesn't appear as if the Black Hood or any member of the Farm will end up residing in New York City, but with the crew frequently inserting small references to the Archie universe in Riverdale and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, you never know.
