Note: This article contains major spoilers for Game of Thrones season 8, episode 5 'The Bells'.

Game of Thrones's long-awaited eighth and final season has had a lot of fan expectations riding on it as viewers wait to find out who will secure the coveted Iron Throne.

Sadly quite a few fans have been left disappointed by the season so far, with many upset by the latest development in 'The Bells', which saw Daenerys Targaryen burn King's Landing to the ground with her last remaining dragon, Drogon.

There's even a petition going around asking HBO to re-do the entire season – but one person who won't be adding their signature is Riverdale star Lili Reinhart.

The actress made her feelings clear as she commented on an Instagram post about the petition, writing: "This is not how television works. TV shows are not fan service. It's ridiculous of people to think they can demand creative change from artists."

Although Lili has criticised the Change.org petition there are still quite a few people who want it to succeed as the petition officially hit over 1 million signatures yesterday (May 18) less than a week after it was started.

"David Benioff and DB Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (ie the books) to fall back on," the petition reads.

"This series deserves a final season that makes sense. Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!"

So far there has been no response from HBO to the petition, although actor Jacob Anderson, who plays Grey Worm, has made his own feelings about it pretty clear.

Whether viewer expectations will be subverted without the petition has yet to be seen but there isn't long to wait to find out as Thrones' final ever episode airs tonight – and, with secrecy levels high, HBO has only released two promo photos for the final episode.

All we really know going in is that Tyrion Lannister is looking rather concerned about something – although some fans do have a very interesting theory about Arya Stark's role in the final episode...
