  1. A person was heard screaming for help outside a storage unit fire in Riverhead early Wednesday. According to Riverhead Town Police, at 1:45 a.m., an officer on patrol noticed smoke in the area of Mill Road and West Main Street, and then saw fire inside one of the CubeSmart self-storage units located on Mill Road.The person, uninjured from the fire, was transported to the Peconic Bay Medical Center for a prior unrelated injury.   2. A Coram man was arrested after he tried to steal a laptop from a woman sitting in her vehicle in the Riverhead Walmart parking lot. According to Riverhead Town Police, a 911 call came in at 7:34 p.m. about a disturbance in the parking lot of Walmart on Old Country Road. Derrick Dixon, 46, attempted to "forcibly steal" the laptop from the woman; he was detained, arrested, and charged with third-degree robbery, police said. (Riverhead Patch)

  3. The beloved annual holiday parade and bonfire in downtown Riverhead has been postponed — again — due to weather. Downtown Riverhead's Annual Holiday Parade and Bonfire, has been postponed to the a new date of Sunday, Dec. 19. (RiverheadLOCAL)

  4. An 85-year-old man from Calverton died after a crash with a dump truck in Riverhead Wednesday. Christopher Watts, 26, of Wading River, was driving the dump truck, owned by Danny's Cesspool Inc., and heading north through the intersection of Horton and Reeves Avenues when he hit the 2017 Buick SUV. The SUV, driven by Patrick Welby, 85, along with passenger Nora Raughan, 86, also from Calverton, were heading west on Reeves Avenue when the dump truck struck, police said. (RiverheadLOCAL)
