  2. Mike Zaleski, a veteran Riverhead highway department employee is running with a purpose; to help others. Zaleski finds it inspiring to have a purpose. "It was my own self-motivation and the next thing you know I’m running three, six, nine, 10 miles,” he said. He estimated that he runs around 900 miles a year. Last spring, at the height of the coronavirus surge, Zaleski ran to show support for health care workers. Shortly after, he decided to run as a food drive for two local churches. Last year he decided to run for superintendent of the Riverhead Highway Department and won! He just keeps on running. (RiverheadLOCAL)

  3. Fatal accident in Flanders Friday morning; a car crashed into a two-story home killing the passenger. According to Southampton Town Police, the crash took place at 5:03 a.m. at a home on Flanders Road near Long Neck Boulevard. The driver of a 2007 Toyota sedan, heading west, careened into the two-story residence on Flanders Road, with four people, including three adults and a child inside, police said.
