Improvements were selected based on the types of events that have been held at the park, as well as possible future events. These improvements were submitted and adopted in the 2023 Parks Master Plan.

The Brownwood City Council has given the green light to the park renovation project, which is one of the largest investments in the park system since the Bert V Massey II Sports Complex. The project’s total cost is $3,113,912.06 and is being funded by the city’s federal American Rescue Plan allocation. Additionally, the City of Brownwood is looking to secure a $1,500,000 outdoor recreation grant from Texas Parks and Wildlife to further improve recreational facilities.
