Road work ahead: List of road/lane closures

Traffic on 2nd Street SW will be reduced to one lane in each direction from 1st Avenue SE to the west of 1st Avenue SW from Saturday, June 19 to Saturday, June 26. The adjacent truck loading and curbside pickup will be closed on the north side of 2nd Street during this time.

Bituminous reclamation and overlay work will begin on County State Aid Highways (CSAH), one lane at a time with flagging operations beginning Monday, June 28. The roads affected include: CSAH 7 and County Road 142 within the city limits of Eyota; CSAH 7 between Trunk Highway 14 and CSAH 9; CSAH between CSAH 9 and CSAH 2; CSAH 30 between CSAH 10 and Trunk Highway 74 in Winona County; and CSAH 32 between CSAH 10 and Trunk Highway 14.

County Road 102 will be closed to through traffic from 55th Street NE to 65th Street NE for culvert replacement work from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, June 21, weather permitting.

Parking lanes in downtown Rochester will be closed to facilitate tree trimming from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. both Thursday, June 17 and Friday, June 18. The affected areas include 1st Avenue NE from 2nd Street NE to Center Street, Center Street from 1st Avenue NE to 3rd Avenue NW, 3rd Avenue SW from Center Street to 6th Street SW, Broadway Avenue South from Center Street to 6th Street SW and 6th Street SW from Broadway Avenue South to 3rd Avenue SW.

Westbound traffic on 2nd Street SW will be reduced to one lane to both the east and west of 6th Avenue SW from Thursday, June 17 to Thursday, July 8. The sidewalk on the north side of 2nd Street SW from 6th Avenue SW to the west will be completely closed.

East River Road NE will be permanently closed by the City of Rochester from East River Lane NE to 23rd Street NE beginning, Monday, June 21 as part of the neighborhood's participation in the Neighborhood Traffic Management Program. Concrete barriers will be placed across East River Road NE just south of the intersection with 23rd Street NE. Pedestrian and bicycle traffic will remain open.

The seal coating pavement preservation project for 2021 will begin Tuesday, June 15. Yellow "No parking this side" signs will be posted on affected streets and all parking is prohibited from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday in posted work zones. Work is anticipated to be completed by Friday, July 16.

Chateau Alley (alleyway south of Center Street west between Broadway Avenue and 1st Avenue SW) will be closed for concrete repairs from Tuesday, June 15 to Friday, June 18.

County Road 112 (18th Avenue NW) will be closed from 1000 ft. south of Overland Drive NW to 65th Street NW from Monday, June 14 to Friday, July 2 for construction of a turn lane and resurfacing of the intersection.

Sixty-fifth Street NW will be closed at the intersection of 55th Avenue NW from Monday, June 21 to Wednesday, June 23.

North Broadway Avenue will be closed from 7th Street to 13th Street from Monday, June 7 to late August. The 7th Street intersection will remain open for eastbound, westbound and southbound traffic. Local traffic and business access will be available via side streets i.e. 5th Street North to 13 1/2 Street North and the mid-block alleys east and west of North Broadway Avenue.

Eastbound traffic on 40th Street SW will be reduced to one lane from 11th Avenue SW to Commercial Drive SW from Wednesday, June 2 to Wednesday, June 30. The adjacent sidewalk on the southside of 40th Street SW will be closed during the workday hours.

County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 5/2nd Ave NW, Byron will be closed at the intersection of 2nd Street NW from Monday, May 24 to Friday, July 2 for utility work. A detour will be signed and flaggers will be present during work times.

North Broadway Avenue will be closed to through traffic from Civic Center Drive to Silver Lake Drive NE from Monday, May 10 to November 2021. Through traffic will be detoured via Silver Lake Drive NE. Local traffic and business access will be available via side streets i.e. 5th Street North to 13 1/2 Street North and the mid-block alleys east and west of North Broadway Avenue.

North Broadway Avenue will be completely closed from 11th Street to 13th Street from Monday, May 10 through July 2021.

The Silver Lake Trail along the south side of the lake will reopen via a temporary pedestrian and bicycle path from Monday, May 10 through Tuesday, June 15. This will use 9th Street NE and Broadway Avenue to connect trail users to the Cascade Creek Trail and the Silver Lake Trail on the north side of the lake. Beginning Wednesday, June 16 the route will use 12th Street NE to connect users to the trails.

Retail Drive NW will be closed from Monday, April 19 through Friday, July 23. The Northwest Shopping Plaza will be accessible from 55th Street NW/Chateau Road NW and Highway 52 North Frontage Road.

Traffic impacts near Discovery Square 2 from Sept. 18 to April 2022 include: 2nd Avenue SW from 5th Street SW to 4th Street SW will be one lane of northbound traffic only; 5th Street SW, from 2nd Street SW to 3rd Street SW, will be eastbound traffic only; and the sidewalk on 5th Street SW adjacent to the project site will be closed. A pedestrian walkway will be available on 2nd Avenue SW.
