Road work begins in Swan Lake area

Jul. 10—An extensive road construction project near Swan Lake is set to begin July 17.

The Montana Department of Transportation, along with LHC Inc. and Knife River, are improving roughly 19 miles of Montana 83 in the Swan Valley.

The north segment of the project area begins just north of Bond Creek and extends approximately 5 miles, ending just north of Soup Creek Road.

Pavement removal will require single-lane closures. Temporary traffic lights and pilot cars will assist drivers through the project area. Commuters should be prepared for delays.

The south segment of the project area begins north of Lion Creek bridge and extends to the Lake/Missoula County line. Work is this area is anticipated to begin mid-August.

An open house to discuss the project will be held Wednesday, July 12, from 6-8 p.m. in the Swan Valley Elementary School gym at 6423 Montana 83 in Condon. Refreshments and a kid's corner will be provided.
