With crowds expected ahead of former President Donald Trump's visit to downtown Fort Myers, police say they will close several roads, although it's unclear which will close.

Kristin Capuzzi, spokesperson for the Fort Myers Police Department, said they will close roads near the Caloosa Sound Convention Center, 1375 Monroe St., ahead of the Lee County Republican Party's 2023 Lincoln Reagan Dinner. The dinner is slated for 6 p.m. Friday.

Joining Trump will be Lee County GOP Chair Michael Thompson, Congressman Byron Donalds, Congressman Greg Steube, and political strategist Roger Stone.

The fundraising dinner is sold out and is not open to the public.

Capuzzi said they don't expect significant traffic impact.

Police will also assist with the Fort Myers Music Walk and the Edison Awards for Innovation, which are also happening in downtown Fort Myers Friday night.

Capuzzi said normal parking will be available for the events.

"There will be an increase in manpower for the multiple events that day into the evening," Capuzzi wrote in an emailed statement.
