Road closures part of West Lafayette library grand reopening
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. − Upcoming community events will come at the price of multiple road closures in August and September, as approved at Tuesday's West Lafayette Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.
An upcoming closure will be on North Chauncey Avenue, Columbia Street to North Street and West Columbia Street, North Chauncey Avenue to Northwestern Avenue. These closures will be due to the grand reopening event of the West Lafayette Public Library.
The closures will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27.
From 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 4, Connolly Street from Robinson Street to Rose Street will be closed due to a local neighborhood block party.
From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23, Russell Street from 2nd Street to 4th Street will be closed due to the Hagle Hall Dedication.
In November 2020, ground was broken on the Marc and Sharon Hagle Hall, the new home of Purdue bands and orchestras.
As part of the 2022 Global Fest, West Columbia Street from North Chauncey Avenue to the east parking garage entrance will be closed from 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16 to 1 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 18.
Other upcoming projects
Further progress on the Crack Sealing project throughout West Lafayette was made. More materials are needed to complete street crack sealing in some areas. Additional construction materials were approved to be purchased for no more than $10,025 with Freehill Asphalt, Inc.
Monthly street lamp maintenance is coming up on the lights on Northwestern Avenue and Columbia Street. When asked, no specific date was given for the date and time of completion for this maintenance.
