Overnight closures expected on Interstate 695 in southwest Baltimore County through Thursday

Work on the southwest outer loop of Interstate 695 between Route 40 and Route 144 near Catonsville will continue this week with overnight road closures through Thursday.

The State Highway Administration recently began installing traffic-counting devices on the Baltimore Beltway in order to monitor traffic flow and volume. Crews will also install seals on bridge deck joints, reflective pavement lane markers and rumble strips along the shoulders of Interstate 695 in addition to the traffic-counting devices, according to a news release.

Motorists can expect lane closures on the inner and outer loop of I-695 through Thursday for the additional work.

Tonight, crews will close one lane at 7 p.m. and one or two more lanes after 10 p.m. to install traffic counters and bridge deck seals on the I-695 outer loop.

On Wednesday and Thursday, crews will close one lane at 7 p.m. and one or two more lanes after 10 p.m. to install raised reflective lane markers, rumble strips and new bridge deck joint seals on I-695′s inner and outer loop.

The work is part of widening of this section of I-695. Drivers should be aware of reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes, according to the SHA.
