Texas-born singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer Koe Wetzel is including El Paso in his current tour.

And that's not the only way he's giving a nod to the Sun City.

Wetzel, who will perform Oct. 13 at the Don Haskins Center, pays homage with the tour name, "Road to Hell Paso," named after the album he recorded in the area.

He recorded the album at the iconic Sonic Ranch Studio in Tornillo, according to music sources. The album debuted at number 12 on the Billboard 200.

Many artists including Mudvayne, Fiona Apple and Reik have recorded at the popular residential recording studio.

According to an article on whiskeyriff.com, Wetzel chose El Paso "to eat wonderful Mexican food and ... play music."

In speaking about the album in the article, Wetzel said: “We pulled in every genre we were feeling at the time. We spent the last 10 years trying to make this sound. Hell Paso has it.”

According to the article, "The album showcases the focus and energy put in, even mixing in some close to the border Mexican flavor on tracks like 'Cabo.'"
