Road work projects updated for Thanksgiving week

Nov. 20—The Texas Department of Transportation plans to conduct the following construction and maintenance work in the district during the week of Nov. 20, 2023. Work schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, equipment failure or other unforeseen issues. Slow down and pay attention in work zones.

TxDOT also reminds the public that the Tyler District offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 23, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Both Rusk and Jacksonville crews will be checking roads for potholes and encroachments.

The contractor is scheduled to begin pavement repairs and continue install of permanent signs, and mailboxes on the SH 21 resurfacing project, from the Houston County Line east to U.S. 69 in Alto. Crews will also remove rock filter dams and silt fences. Lane closures are anticipated. Completion of this project is expected in winter 2023.

The contractor on the SH 294 rehabilitation project, from CR 2326 east to SH 21, is scheduled to install mow strips for the metal beam guard fence at the Bowles Creek bridge. Lane closures will occur when work is in progress. Anticipated completion is fall 2023.

The contractor for the U.S. 69/FM 2493 interchange and realignment of FM 2493 project is clearing the right-of-way on the west side of US 69 and building a detour on the east side. No lane closures or delays are currently expected. This project is expected to be completed in summer 2027.

The contractor on the U.S. 69/FM 31 safety improvement project is beginning construction for themedian cable barrier north of Alto to FM 241. The full extent of this project on U.S. 69 is from FM 241 to 1.11 miles north of FM 851, and on FM 31, from the Neches River bridge to 0.051 miles west of Toll 49. No lane closures are anticipated.
